This rifle is going to be a snubby. I also have to decide if I'm going to go with a lighter stock for ease of carrying around, or heavy for reduction in recoil.

You spend all this time working out and are worried about carrying it around?

its not the size that counts, its how you use it

Well I'm pretty set on my glass for now: http://www.vortexoptics.com/product/vortex-viper-pst-4-16x50-ffp-riflescope-with-ebr-1-moa-reticle/reticle

I still have to decide if I'll go with an moa or mrad style reticule, but it's an FFP, has a bunch of nice features, and well it's a Vortex.

I like mils because of the whole 1/10 thing. Just makes life easier.

It's personal preference. 1/4 now is still a more narrow angle than 1/10 MRAD.... I just don't care

but yeah unless you're using it strictly for long range competition a 20" barrel with 1:11 twist is plenty for anything and everything

Sounds like a truck rifle. I wouldn't go less than 24" or so on a .308 for LR shooting. If you have a good brake on there, go with a lighter stock. .308 doesn't have much recoil from my AR..... And I have pretended to be Rambo and dumped a magazine before.

There are barrel length guides out there. When you trim inches you lose f/s and a .308 doesn't have much to spare. It makes wind and gravity a much bigger deal so it increases the diffoculty of shooting exponentially.

That said it many guys shoot a 18" .308 but its really more for popping coyotes at a couple hundred yards from a truck.

It's 20" with 1:12, people don't seem to notice much difference against the longer barrels, perhaps in a different caliber.

Peng and I just explained the different sides of the same coin.

:D

I'll see if I can find a data sheet on how much speed you lose for .308 depending on barrel length.

Sps tact aac has 20", or I go with the varmint, but it's 26".

aac already have threads for suppressor, but I could cut down the varmint, and get the end threaded for that matter, but the aac would be cheaper.

Fuck you could pop coyote's at 10' around here. Fucking rampant this year.

What's funny is to watch the crows chase them. Why the fuck are they scared of crows?

That is awesome!

I've never seen that.

Now I want to see this.

Goddammit.

I don't work out to gain strength, purely aesthetics. ;)

Coyote traveled through the country, fighting monsters and making the world ready for the new people, the Indians who were to follow. He crossed the Cascade Mountains and came into the Puget Sound country. He was hungry, very hungry.

He saw Crow sitting on the peak of a high cliff, with a ball of deer fat in his mouth. Coyote looked at Crow with this fat and thought how good it would taste. Becoming hungrier and hungrier, he wondered how he could get the fat for himself. He thought hard. Then he laughed.

"I know what to do. I know how I can get the fat from Crow."

Then coyote came close to the base of the cliff and called. "Oh, Chief! I hear that you can make a good noise, a pleasing noise with your voice. You are a big chief, I know. You are a wise chief, I have heard. Let me hear your voice, Chief. I want to hear you, Chief Crow."

Crow was pleased to be called chief. So he answered, "Caw!"

"Oh, Chief Crow," called Coyote, "that wasn't much. You can sing better than that. Sing a good song for me, Chief. I want to hear you sing loud."

Crow was pleased again. So he opened his mouth wide and called from the cliff in a loud voice, "C-a-a-w!"

Of course the ball of deer fat fell down from Crow's open mouth.

Coyote grabbed it quickly. Then he laughed.

"You are not a wise chief," said Coyote. "you are not a chief at all. I called you 'Chief' just to fool you. I wanted your deer fat. I am hungry. Now you can go hungry cecause of your foolishness."

Penis lifts ftw

Crows are two opposable thumbs away from ruling the universe, that's why

26" seems a bit long. I'll bet you won't notice a ballistics difference in the two for what you are doing.

That's what I thought, and i figure getting the barrel cut, crowned, and threaded is just another $150-200 that could go towards glass or stock, if the shorter barrel is fine.

Plus I'll be getting a can down the road, so I don't need something insanely long, like my cock.

I use garlic powder all the time. It's an easy way out.

Use it in a lot of rubs.

Garlic salt (or garlic powder and kosher salt) is delicious on fresh watermelon

Garlic salt should never be purchased by anyone. Just like rubs that contain salt. Buying anything that is mostly salt with some other added I don't get at all. First rule in learning to cook is to learn to season and by season I mean salt. Separating the two allows you to do this.
