what would you guys think about going from 38's to 40's on my truck? 0531122102.jpg

What sort of off roading do you do?

i do quite a bit of off roading. i mud the crap out of it and when it comes to snow i usually take the ditches instead of the road. i like to drive down gravel roads through the ditches and jump some field approaches. some other guy commented about parking lots and pot holes, but i don't have this kind of truck just so i can drive it down the road. i like to play with my toys

I really don't see the advantage to 40's over 38's for practical off road use. You gain about an inch of clearance, but lose a lot of power.

Our JK had 35s, and we took it through some nasty shit with no clearance issues. I don't see ANY decent reason to switch to 40s other then aesthetics.

And I think aesthetically it would look worse. Already too big.

Figures.

I turned down my street today coming from class, and two bitches be walking, and waving at me. I was tempted to walk over after parking, but figured they were jail bait.

Jail bait no bueno.

Doesn't hurt to go and ask.

As long as they don't come out of a yellow bus.

I tried it, but my computer is too laggy. Fuck win7. ninja.gif

Your doing it wrong tongue.png

My 6 year old device with Win7 runs like a champ.

I'm sure it's slow at times for a multitude of reasons. Eats up more ram then really needed, and I only have 2gb IIRC. Been lazy about getting more. Oh and I never actually bought it, just downloaded a cracked version when it first came out, so I'm pretty sure I only have like half the updates, then stopped it so MS wouldn't shut it down. Every 20 minutes I get a popup mentioning my windows version isn't genuine, and I should buy it. laugh.png

Make sure you check with your new university. I got a win 7 upgrade cd that will work on 3 computers for $15

also with the Duramax swap i'll gain 2WDwink.png

You live in MN, why the hell would you not want 4wd?

On top of that 38's with 2wd is flat out silly.

I may be wrong but I'm pretty sure he means the vehicle is AWD now and after the Duramax upgrade he will convert it to 4x4 so the has the option to disengage the front axles for 2wd

Nice. I'd be surprised if my community college has anything, but I'll check. :)

I figured that out later. Either way, dubious benefit and a waste of money. If power is desired there are other ways to come about it.

Thanks for reminding me, I need to hit up some seniors who may not use theirs and get another set of 3 :D

That would heh. I'll check out the bookstore today.

I'm itching so bad to update my new laptop.

Does it work perfectly??? yes, but there is that poor little unused RAM slot! What if it collects too much dust and I lose it forever!!!

Matt2, you understand my pain... right?

I am a bad bad person. I HATE waiting for my computer to think. I like it bleeding fast. So I say upgrade it.

The other problem is I am super cheep in general.

Then you would be even happier. Asus was nice enough to provide 1 4gb stick of a well known brand instead of 2x2gb of WTF?!?! They also made the ram SUPER accessible on the bottom.

Hey I wonder if you guys would have any technical knowledge to help me understand something in my oil analysis project.

When looking at the concentration of Iron and Aluminum in our oil samples they trend the exact same way but at different magnitudes. So basically if you change the scale of the graphs they look exactly the same. This makes sense to me because of their abundance in an engine and they always wear a bit.

What perplexes me is Potassium levels do the exact same thing. Our oil analysis company says that potassium could come from a protective coating on a new bearing but some of the trucks have over 80,000 miles. Is Potassium something that is commonly used in engines?

BTW these are 12L diesel engines.

No idea, but sounds interesting.

i need this

Research engine coolant.

4. Potassium: is also in anti-freeze systems but is also used as an additive in gear oil. If your oil analysis shows the combination of Boron,Sodium and Potassium then you should have your engine looked at for a coolant leak into your oil.

About to watch a video of monkeys fucking.

Fuck anthro class. *sighs*

Some vehicles have different levels of sodium, but because the way they trend compared to potassium is so different I don't see them being related. What's funny is about half our vehicles averaged 20-25 ppm sodium and the other half average 0-5 for all our tests. They all use the same oil and it random based on geographical location. I can't think of any reason they would so perfectly average 2 different levels

Here is a graph for visualization...

I wonder why then. Me no know!

Your weird bro?

yeah, when i get really waisted i do get a little weird. i just start rambling about stupid crap. sorry

80,000 miles isn't much for an engine that is supposed to run at rated power for 10,000hrs.
