Taurine is a goofy thing. There isn't a lot in most peoples diets. Fish/seafood contains the highest. Vegetarians and more so vegans could be at risk for not getting enough.

As humans we obviously don't need tons of the stuff, but folks with conditions or on medications can sometimes be deficient because of how things affect our body.

They think taurine and the way muscles contract and relax is related really strongly, and even more so the heart and how it's rhythm is kept. This ties into the fact that fish eating people have great tickers. The healthy fats probably have more to do with it, but the "extra" taurine they eat might also be "protecting" them from when we take drugs that can mess with heart rythm. Such as caffeine or booze to name the most common.

So far other than swearing when I can't find a few things I actually like Windows 8. The Metro overlay is rather pointless other than it makes it WAY easier to start a program without a mouse than in WIn 7.

Computer fucking rips to. From suspend to restart it is about as fast as you can press the button. Restarts take 20 seconds or so.

No man that's sweet. If I was in your shoes I'd be psyched too.

They pay as well! smile.png

Although I would have taken the job even if they didn't; I really need to experience and I hope to work for Ford full time when I graduate.

I applied to 13 positions total at 7 different companies and this is the only position I heard back from. And it was the most desired. Having a good day smile.png

That is freaking awesome. Being an intern if you do a good job you will have such a leg up on the interview process.

By the way, make sure you remember the people that interviewed you. If you can establish any kind of relationship they will probably have more pull later and if they like you and remember you it certainly won't hurt :)

Congrats!

BILLY MAYS HERE WITH THE NEW MIGHTY FAGGOT!

OMFG....I just tried some kombucha... I nearly threw up all over everything. WTF.

I was so expecting to like it too. :GAG:

This shit hit me wrong. Just really no bueno.

Ishy.

I shook it because I thought the sediment needed to get mixed up. And it sprayed me....... trying to clean up with kleenex in the Byerly's parking lot FTL.

Hope I don't spew on the way home.....

Congrats !

Taurine is an amino acid that a lot of people can be low on. It helps with muscle functioning and metabolism. There is some link between it and cramps and heart health too.

Not technically an amino acid. :ninja:

But I'm just being ocd.

Wiki tells me it ain't!! I'll be dipped in shit.

Taurine is a derivative of cysteine, an amino acid which contains a thiol group. Taurine is one of the few known naturally occurring sulfonic acids. In the strict sense, it is not an amino acid, as it lacks a carboxyl group,[2] but it is often called one, even in scientific literature.[3][4][5] It does contain a sulfonate group and may be called an amino sulfonic acid. Small polypeptides have been identified which contain taurine, but to date no aminoacyl tRNA synthetase has been identified as specifically recognizing taurine and capable of incorporating it into a tRNA.[6]

Learn some shit e'ry day!

I have never heard that in even the most sciencey of papers.

SHAZAM!

What brand was it, or homemade? I've been curious how it tastes--til now. :P

If I saw it happen to someone I would have been LoLing all the way home.

Something has changed in me where I cannot deal with some smells anymore. It's inconsistent to what sets it off, but it sucks.

I used to be a rock and nothing could make me feel ill.

Just missing carboxyl group, but yeah it's always lumped together with AAs.
