I usually don't share stuff like this, but I thought this was pretty cool.

Our 14-year-old dog Abbey died last month. The day after she passed away my 4-year-old daughter Meredith was crying and talking about how much she missed Abbey. She asked if we co

uld write a letter to God so that when Abbey got to heaven, God would recognize her. I told her that I thought we could so, and she dictated these words:

Dear God,

Will you please take care of my dog? She died yesterday and is with you in heaven. I miss her very much. I am happy that you let me have her as my dog even though she got sick.

I hope you will play with her. She likes to swim and play with balls. I am sending a picture of her so when you see her you will know that she is my dog. I really miss her.

Love, Meredith

We put the letter in an envelope with a picture of Abbey and Meredith and addressed it to God/Heaven. We put our return address on it. Then Meredith pasted several stamps on the front of the envelope because she said it would take lots of stamps to get the letter all the way to heaven. That afternoon she dropped it into the letter box at the post office. A few days later, she asked if God had gotten the letter yet. I told her that I thought He had.

Yesterday, there was a package wrapped in gold paper on our front porch addressed, 'To Meredith' in an unfamiliar hand. Meredith opened it. Inside was a book by Mr. Rogers called, 'When a Pet Dies.' Taped to the inside front cover was the letter we had written to God in its opened envelope. On the opposite page was the picture of Abbey & Meredith and this note:

Dear Meredith,

Abbey arrived safely in heaven. Having the picture was a big help and I recognized her right away.

Abbey isn't sick anymore. Her spirit is here with me just like it stays in your heart. Abbey loved being your dog. Since we don't need our bodies in heaven, I don't have any pockets to keep your picture in so I am sending it back to you in this little book for you to keep and have something to remember Abbey by.

Thank you for the beautiful letter and thank your mother for helping you write it and sending it to me. What a wonderful mother you have. I picked her especially for you. I send my blessings every day and remember that I love you very much. By the way, I'm easy to find. I am wherever there is love.

Love, God

That is awesome.

OMG I must have one.

I have DSL but I'm sort of over having a home phone.

So I check out the local cable company to see how much cable internet costs now, and I see they have a monthly data allowance? Fuck that, they can shove it up their ass.

What other options are out there?

Hughes Net, the satellite internet is total, utter crap. $80 a month, limited to 300mb downloads per day, 2 year agreement, it was the only high speed option at the time. As soon as FiOS came in we scrapped Hughes Net, Direct TV, and AT&T and bundled with FiOS. I'm saving close to $120 a month.

Oh, how was the sledding trip Sean? Good powder up Nord? A lot melted in one day here, I wondered how it would affect your trails and ditches up there.

the fat kid in me wants to order this right now.

Disgusting. All that is good about pizza is ruined in those things.

Open face calzone/stromboli is all I see.

Sounds great at about 2:15 am to me

Rick any idea where the box came from? Awesome!

No clue, I've chosen to believe that it is from someone at the post office with a big heart. Whether it is true or not I don't know, but if it is it gives me a little hope for the human race if it is.

Somehow managed to get a good deal on a Zastava. Was going to wait until spring to get one but...uh...yeah...

I completely understand what you mean after having good stuff.

At time I still want a hot bowl of cheese with sauce and various chopped up animal parts.

If I have to call t a pizza at 2 wm hammered. Then so be it.

Well?

Personally if I paid for my phone, I'd buy a used phone and a plan from a carrier like pageplus.

I'm eying up the Nexus One, probably going to be my first venture into smartphones.

Any reason you are favoring the Nexus One? Could you do the Droid Milestone or Nexus S?

Budget, I guess :)

I really don't want to spend more than $120 on a phone.

Looks like something from the Walking Dead. That video has been making it rounds today. No way is that real.

OMG ROFLMAO. turned on signatures.

Thanks Sean. I love how out of context that is. Immortalized.

Seriously bummed, I've had the same principle for 14 years and he's retiring in 2 days. True leaders of men are very hard to find.

No desire to step up to the plate?

I agree 100%. Too few good people in good positions.
