The Jeep is finally working again.

There still are some minor things to adress, like tidying up the engine bay, regular maintenence and fixing some small leaks but those should be a piece of cake

And now Steve Mowry is leading a charge against their methodologies (LMT and their tall surrounds) and the legitimacy of their patents.

There is an article coming up in a future edition of Voice Coil magazine that basically says the tall profile surround sucks. And depending on who you ask, the patent for LMT has either never been applied for (no information can be found) or it was rejected (as there is already a patent for variable density voice coils from someone else).

The basket is a different story, though.

Coulda told you the surround is sub par to say the least..it's not so much the profile, but more along the lines of the material(s) that are used for it...

IIRC there may be a patent for the variable density coil...but the main reason it was never done is quite frankly the adverse effects of it suck..

There's many other ways to do the same thing, without touching on any patents from anybody...split coil is decently cool..

Personally i think a straight gap is best...

Just spent the last hour re-reading some of Martin J Kings .pdf's on horns, now I have an itching to go build something new...

Neil, you got me thinking about the gun situation some. I agree about increasing the punishment for gun crimes. I have never been a gun person or been around them much at all. Coming from educated hippies, it makes sense. But guns, like drugs, have so much momentum, I think we could never reduce the levels by making them illegal to carry or own. Yes, we can look at countries in Europe who have higher punishments and much lower gun crimes, usually due to much lower levels of guns, but they are in a different society.

As I have always kept my place of residence in an area where a gun was not needed, I feel they should not be needed for the most part. So I don't know what to think. With the democrats the gun issue does not effect me so I am not as bothered by it, the idea of universal health care and hand outs for illegals does, because I live in a very expensive state that is constantly raising taxes and expenses (todays raised cost was tools for the tunnels and bridges), that they are only going to make even more expensive. It just infuriates me when Amanda and I combined make decent money (not including the shop because it does not make money yet ) and we don't have massive debt or car payments, nor do we go out or have frivolous expenditures, or take vacations, or even buy fun things that are enjoyable, in addition to always keeping our residual monthly expenses down, we are just meeting our mortgage and bills every month with high cost of living here in a mediocre house on a very small piece of land in an average neighborhood.

I am just so freaking pissed that people actually want to elect someone who is going to put an even hard hit on their pocket based on "charisma". I am not saying McCain is the choice, just that Hillary and Obama are so clearly not it is disgusting.

quick history lesson..

in all cases where guns were outlawed, that country was taken over by a dictator. i'll get some links later at the house. australia is currently under a similiar gun ban and ALL violent crimes, especially those where a firearm is used, has gone up over 100% IIRC. it's a proven fact, outlaw guns, only outlaws will have guns. they aren't called criminals for nothing. also, take away our guns and we are no longer citizens, we are subjects. and that's what the liberals want. obama will destroy our country. i'd take hillary over obama, but i'll vote mccain. rather have hucklebee, not only is he a lifer at teh NRA, he also carries concealed.

i'll stop my rant now, lol. i've got to call the gun shop and get the savage ran through so i can pick it up thursday, hopefully. also crossing my fingers that another gent traded his python in like john was working on!!
