Good morning. If it's going to be cold, we may as well get some snow. But nooooo, forecast looks mainly sunny for the next two weeks.

Vehicle Scrappage Program

Washington lawmakers are drafting a large economic stimulus package to help create jobs and rebuild infrastructure. They want to include a nationwide scrappage program which would give U.S. tax dollars to consumers who turn-in older cars to have them crushed, as a misguided attempt to spur new car sales. The lawmakers need to scrap this idea.

The stimulus package is being drafted right now. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) wants to introduce the bill by January 6 and have it approved by Congress by January 20, so that President Obama can sign it into law after he is inaugurated.

I don't understand this thinking. All of the politicians are in such a scramble to try to fix the economy ASAP, so they are trying to pull off all of these short term deals. But why not just let time heal all things? The US is not going to collapse into a third world country, is it? Besides, the whole world is caught up in this so we wouldn't be the only one. But with all of these things they're trying to push through, won't that just artificially inflate everything, only to cause another bubble burst when it finally catches up a year or two down the road? All the money they're dumping in now is going to cause massive inflation in probably a year, maybe two. I mean, let us suffer for a little while. Won't that make us stronger in the long haul? Maybe then people will stop with the bullshit that leads to these sorts of things.

If the US economy fails, China fails. Mexico may see a hit, but they don't have much of an economy anyways. What people need to do is model Europe. They are very sefl sufficient and could survive without the rest of the world.

Too bad their unions have a stranglehold on their national governments...

Thanks for posting that Tom. It further shows the insanity of the elected officials that I did not vote for.

It takes a certain kind of bad driver to be banned from the road for almost 1000 years, but 84-year-old Luba Relic of Warriewood, New South Wales, Australia has managed to be just that dangerous.

Miss Relic was out at a St. Vincent De Paul back in September when she managed to smash into an unsuspecting Honda Civic. The trouble was she didn't have a license, as it had been revoked because of medical reasons. Turns out that was only one of 78 times she'd been in court, whether due to traffic incidents or tangling with neighbors. Yeah, that's a bit much.

Seems the court system finally got tired of dealing with Luba and leveled a ban on her driving until the year 2999. On that news, Miss Relic got testy with the Magistrate, who added on another year for her back talk, bringing the final date up to the year 3000. We expect this salty old lady to stick around until then just to spite the system.

Would like to mount a Sony Bravia on one wall and have it fold flat against another, but the ability to pull out into a doorway far enough to watch TV on from the office. This will be the third TV mount arm I've made.

when I get a house u wanna make one for me man? Shit dude u are the fabricator

Well I am off to school.

For the moment Russia is fucking Eastern Europe big time. They shut down the natural gas supply. We are lucky because less than 30% of the gas we use is from import. But Bulgaria is almost 100% dependent on imports. Countries around us are asking the population to use whatever alternative heating methods they can find and reducing the gas supply to the industry.

So, Europe isn't doing so well right now :(

Ahh, the two sides of the laptop world. A big brawny T-61P Lenovo for running CAD, and a 'cute' little ultra mobile...

Nice !

How much was that small laptop? In case I missed it, can you tell me a model ? Or some quick specs on it ?

I was watching a vid on youtube today of two artist I know singing a cover of "come together". When I saw it I really knew it looked familiar but i knew I hadn't ever watched it on youtube before. Then after watching it a while I looked at the description and realized it was videod from a concert that I was at a year and a half ago. I feel famous now :P

Hum, did not want to do another Dell. Would prefer a Toshiba if I have to get a PC laptop.
