  • Chill- Lemme break it down as simple as I can on some of us here. The IHoP is like a big dysfunctional family. -M5 would be the uncle everyone respects and takes advice from. We may not like how he p

I still can't start the expy.

I'm blowing god damn fuses every time. I put in 25 amp to see if it would start and it blew that.

I replaced both the ground from starter and the ignition switch in the steering column. Both were bad. Neither fixed my problem.

I may have blown up my 880 in the process. It was acting funny. I just got a new battery, maybe the interstate was just shot and sending wayyyyy too low voltage... wtf

who knows.

It couldnt even handle a 20 amp draw when I took it in. It had been draind from trying to start too many times.

Might take it to batt pluss and see if they can revive the old one. then I'll have 2 850cca batts for my truck that won't start.

lol

phuker.

Does it only do it when you are trying to start the vehicle or as soon as you turn the key? Disonnect the lead from the starter wire and try to start it and see what happens. If nothing happens, it's the starter, if it still blows, it's ignition related which probably means a leaky plug wire or coil pack. I don't know what year it is, but if it's a first gen, you should have a pair of coil packs.

I know you said you had the starter tested, but that doesn't mean there's not an intermittent problem with it that comes back once it's bolted in place or a load placed on it. The problem with 99% of these "testers" is they cannot put a load on the starter. It' the same way with an alternator. The only proper way to test is with a load.

It only blows when I turn the key to the Start position. I was able to start it with a jumper from the positive batt to the switch where the starter power and the alt and batt all come together. Last time though I drained the battery. I have a new one waiting to be put in and try starting again.

When you say leaky pack do you mean COP? I may have what you are saying confused. I have a known timing issue that I was almost 100% sure was a bad COP. When I had a guy put them in last time he didnt grease them. It ran fine untill the alt gave out. I got the new alt from you and about a week later after a light rain timing issue came back. Could a crapped out COP really stop the truck from starting but not affect it running unless under heavy load?

I will test the starter again, I nearly replaced it anyway as it's pretty old and has some exterior rust going on.

COP = coil on plug. IF that's what you have then the coil is directly above the spark plug. If you have spark plug wires going to the plugs, then you have coil packs. They're nothing more than transformers that up the voltage and send spark when the computer tells them to. I don't know how to test the COPs, but if you have coil packs, they are easy to test. It can cause your vehicle not to start, misfire, hesitate, etc. . . It could also be intermittent.

Which exact fuse it is blowing? I'm guessing one of the underhood maxi-fuses.

I'd just look for general wear, see how many apprentice marks are on the table, listen to the sound of the spindle while its running, how well the chuck functions (it had better be a Jacob's ball bearing chuck). Just look it over to see if it appears to have been beaten up or been somewhat taken care of. Drill presses seem to come up pretty often on sale so you probably don't need to be in to much of a hurry to go buy one.

Sporting the SSA sticker at the competition this weekend :neil:

P9190073_resize.jpg

Installation judging, yeah fuckers, I have PB board to show you everything is under the window line

P9190064_resize.jpg

147.3, new personal best. And a 147.7 in the free runs when everything was over.

Pics were taken by some other competitor, so the sticker pic isn't intentional.

Wootscoot. We need more rep in the eastereuro block. :)

the shit u find peng...

it amazes me everytime, where u find all this random and wierd stuff

It first broke cover a few years back when it was everywhere on OT.com

apparently the email I supply on my resume can be "considered juvenile by interviewers"

...really? they're looking at the email address I provide to indicate my maturity level? seriously? I doubt that

but if they are, then fuck them

*goes to create a "more professional email address" to appease the assholes*

What on earth is your email? Lol but I also have a juvenile email address, I made it when I was 13 of course I do, I just made another one for jobs and such.

Penguin4x4 at gmail dot com

whatever, managers are assholes

I should know, I spent 5 years in school studying it

hehe

I don't get why that's juvenile at all, I can see mine being...out there but now yours seems fine.

Because it has the word Penguin in it. I agree with the looking down on it and would myself. In a time where unemployment is high you NEED to do everything you can to act and be professional. Can you imagine what people would think if my business card read:

Sean Smith

Director of International Sales

1111 this address

some city, TX, 11111

555-555-5555

penguin4wd@generic_email.com

Still completely idiotic if that is the only reason to disqualify my application/resume...

BLEH

*updated resume and contact info on all job finding sites I'm currently registered on...that took a while*

you've got to play their game dude

That is the 250% coverage approach. ;)

Good luck. I have an interview on Friday and Monday.

Overkill is nice and all, but I'm 99% sure the crap on the engine side of the firewall will just melt and slide away...should be messy...

dampening mat on the underside is priceless though :lol2:

SS claims 500 degrees or something on the matt.. but dont worry i believe he's covering all of it in one of their sludge products...

holy crap is that a supermarket basket being used as a jackstand?

he's got a nice idea on curing dash rattles but....damn son...

What an idiot.

HE talks about thin metal on the firewall. Obviously he knows nothing of vehicular structure as this is the thickest metal in the vehicle aside from the subframe rails.

Then he talks about using a hood pad to lower underhood temperatures. Hmm. . . . That makes sense. Let's reflect heat back into the heat source and expect it to be cooler.
