hey, i have a question,

i have one mtx 15 inch 9500 in my truck now and my lease is up and im getting a suv. i want to have a set up that is spl and as loud as possible. so my question is-

will it be better to get one more 15 9500 and get a dual ported box and toss it in the back or go with 2 18inch fi btl?

I am new to car audio, this system i have now is my first. so alot of things im new to. put the cost aside, im willing to pay a good buck to get a LOUD system :) i've noticed theres alot of companies out that make subs just as good if not better then the few ive heard of, mtx,jl,kicker. and i figured if meade uses the 18 fi btl there has to be something special about. And if theres any other subs thats you could recommend that are really good please mention them. thanks alot in advance lol

Id go with Fi..

Thats just me tho..

For the price of a 9500, just spend a lil more cash and get a BTL..

And again, Your going to have to drop some cash on the electrical too..

You are asking for a comparison of (2) 15's to (2) 18's. The 18's are going to be louder assuming you have enough room for the correct enclosure.

IMO, even comparing 15" 9500's to 15" BTL's, the BTL will win. . .

I dont get what your saying. do you want strictly spl or a loud daily driver?

Ye its fine. :) and you say your wanting 2 btl's?

Do you plan on running them both with one amp, or an amp for each?

ya that was a really good read, how big of a difference is there between 2 15's and 2 18's? and what kind of electrical stuff would i need? like an extra battery and a cap?

Well difference would depend on if you had the right enclosure for both.

In that case the 18's would be quite abit louder.

But you will be blown away at how loud btl's can get. imo i would stick with 15's.

are you leasing the new vehical? if so you may want to consider all that you will have to do to it to run 2 18"btl's with that much power. you will need electrical upgrades extra batteries and sound proofing ect........

If this is new to you then you should start slow. Ask a lot of question and don't start installing so soon. Planning is a big part. There is a lot more than just battery, sub, and amp in a system.

Personally, I dont think you should jump for the btl.

i realized that phi lol

and earthman i no if i dont go big ill be disappointed, my first system was 2 rf p3s in a 4 door ram, a week later i got the bug and they weren't enough for me, so i got the 9500. i just dont wanna have to do that again, my old box is still in my garage collecting dust and it was used only for a week lol what would you get if you were in my situation?

Your 9500's are more comparable to Fi SSD's. BTL's would be plenty for you. Look into High Output alternators for your vehicle (Iraggi, Mean Green, Excessive Amperage, DC Power), batteries (Powermaster D3100's, Kinetik HC2400, Deka Intimidators), 1/0 gauge wire, amplifiers (Most on here will recommend Sundown SAZ 3000D's). Be sure to ask if you have any questions.

All this has been solved through pm's. ;)

personally id get a pair of bl 18's or nightshade 18's with a saz3000d in a correctly built box it will be more than you could hope for. the btl's dont need a ton of power but unless you are gonna give them atleast rated i wouldnt spend the extra money on them. depending on the strength of your stock alt and your listening habits an upgraded stock batt and a pair of d3100's should be enough to power the saz3000d.

Shut up Rob.

No No :finger:

Lets not take his thread from him ;)

not meaning to burst your bubble, but if this is a leas car then Id go with 2 x18 BL's

reason being you will save a lot of money on your electrical and this should get plenty loud.

besides if you are still talking caps then maybe the btl isnt the woofer for you.

He will see a dramatic difference going from one 15" 9500 to one 18" Btl.

Assuming he will have enough space for the enclosure
