I have a fully loaded BTL 15" and it got here yesterday. I had one of those cheap prefab boxes laying around so i popped it in and put 1200 watts to it from a hifonics amp. Wasn't quite what i was expecting. My friends two 12 inch mojos hit way harder than the BTL. I'm not trying to put down FI or anything i just want to know how i can improve the sound (loudness) of it.

How much better will 2000 watts RMS to the btl and a much bigger box help?

my current box is only 2.3 ft.^3

recommended specs for that 15" is atleast 3.0 and 1200 wont get that sub moving, double the power and you should be good to go i would think.

Well the prefab is most likely choking that sub badly.

Now you can run 1200 to the btl, but you wont see it really come alive like it would on 2000.

I have highlighted above the most likely reasons for your poor output

Like they said, not enough power for one, Hifonics amps are usually overrated, and sub being smothered in that box.

The pre fab is suffocating that sub. Honestly you cant expect much from a 2.3 Ft^3 pre fab for a 15, the port area on it is also probably way to small for it.

The new box design looks good.

You need to build a nice box for it. Build it to Fi's specs. 1200w will still get loud.

2.3 ft. . .is it sealed?

1200 is plenty to get it going. Just need the correct box.

Great thanks for the imput. I just bought the MDF about an hour ago and i should have the box put together by tomorrow.

Plus i bought another hifonics amp which will put 2000 watts to it easy.

lac matt has a 2000 watt AQ amp... if you come to the san marcos area we can run a lil comparison

I bought a Lamborghini yesterday...got it hung in the mud hole...i'm not too impressed with my new merciallgo.

Put it in a box that it is supposed to be in, with the power that it is supposed to have...sorry man. You can't take a lambo and hang it in a mud hole man!

They are WAY over rated... clip very easy... and THD is off the charts......

Well box is finished. I played it at about 300 watts and my pants were vibrating. The box really made a difference. It was my first time making one this size and my dad and bro helped out.
