I've been having a little hiss problem and was trying to track it down the other day. When I slipped up and made it worse, figured out I blew the pico fuse in the pioneer so I had to fix it. Here is my attempt at a fix for it. Still need to go out and put it in to test it out but it measures out to be ok.

Ok pictures.

The culprit, right below the exclamation point!.

The fix, soldered the ground pins to a wire and the other side to a ground point.

Wires fed out the back of the unit.

And wires soldered to a fuse holder.

All fixed?

Got it back in and working again but I am back to having a little hiss not big like before, I can hear music now. BUT I may have found the culprit of the little hiss. It is somewhere behind the head unit cause when I pressed on it and held it, the hiss went away. Got to tackle that another day though.

Yes, very good. The noise I have now is a slightly different pitch then before but that could be just from a different orientation of the wires behind the unit (I hope). But if I press the unit in a bit and hold it, it all goes away. Doesn't matter where I press the face plate or edge it goes poof like it wasn't ever there. I'm going to pull it out and see if I can track it down hopefully tomorrow if I got time.

I did the same thing you did on my avic unit. Its the holder it doesn't make good contact with the fuse. I just twisted the wires together for now till i find a better solution.

The holder you just put on. I put almost the exact one on mine and it fixed the major hiss. After i twisted them together its completely silent. I still think im gonna get a couple ground loop isolators and run them.

I went out and pulled the head unit and it went away tried moving some wires but it never came back. I did, however, put the new fuse holder on top of the unit so it doesn't get pinched behind it. Looked like it was getting pinched when I took the unit out, and could have caused the problem.

So as of right now I have no noise using the following equipment

Pioneer 880

POS Pioneer 4 channel powering the mids and highs.

sundown prototype sub amp.

I will try and hook up the USAcoustics later to see if the original noise comes back.

Update? ;)

I hooked back up the USAcoustics.

Still have the original faint steady hiss. What is really odd is every now and then I will get a very faint alternator whine on top of the steady hiss then it will go away.

Fixed the falling tweeter today, only took me 15 mins with a run to the hardware store. Maybe tomorrow if I feel ambitious I'll reroute the RCAs and put in the universal level control for the sub channel so I can use any amp for the subs. Maybe even take out the sub amp and run everything off the leviathan. :rockwoot:

That is one sexy amplifier!

x2, I damn sure want one for my next front stage install.

CD??? you mean in the Leviathan photo, its the user manual sent in pdf format.

Now that is what I call changing the trend, when did companies start doing this or is Zed Audio one of the first?

Yea that one.

Thanks.

I am looking at the Zed Audio Leviathan and curious on how do you mount this puppy, any insight would be great since I dont see mounting holes in any picture? Thanks again

There is two ways to mount it suggested in the manual. It comes with mounting tabs (painted 1/8inch tabs) and hardware to attach them to the amp. Or it gives you the bolt and thread size for a clean install where you can drill holes in your amp rack and put the bolts in from the back side so you cant see any tabs or anything.
