I have a Memphis 16-mc2000d mojo amp.

I also have a FI BTL loaded

This sub is dual 2 ohm. I wired it in series so the amp sees 4 ohms.

I have it in a 7.5 cube box tuned to 40HZ

However when I really get this thing kicking it sounds like it cannot handle the power.

Any suggestions, I know this sub can take all that this amp can give it???

What size is your BTL?

Why 40Hz. tuning?

What does your charging system look like?

what are you playing? maybe your playing below tuning.

Is it bottoming out or does it just have a tinging sound when it plays (below xmax)?

thats kinda vague....what do you mean it sounds like its not handling the power? sounds like its clipping? bottoming out?

the btl should be able to handle the power that amps puttin out all day...

BTL shouldn't have any problem with that amp they can take plenty more. Id say your clipping the amp.

if the BTL cant handle that amp at 4 ohms which is probably like 1000 watts you have a problem

I'm gonna go with you're tuned too high, and you don't have your subsonic filter set correctly.. and you're playing below tuning.

Depending on what size BTL you have.. 7.5^3ft is a bit large.

IT is an 18 BTL

I have 120 amp alt

with memphis 1 farad cap

0gauge wire and a line driver

When I turn the vol all the way up it makes a tink sound like tink tink tink

and before i get there the sound at high power is just not right, maybe its clipping how do i take care of that?

is there a reason you have a box tuned so high? Also that amp only does 1200wRMS @ 4 ohm, make sure you bass boost of on zero and you "gain knob" is respectable. I think you're trying to hard to get this loud and your clipping the living hell out of it.

Also check for air leaks. That tink tink tink sound can be indicitive of that (or clipping). Bottoming out would be a louder brap awful sound.

Why 40Hz. tuning?

Seriously why?

thats ridiculously high

....so it sounds like chit, and yet you turn it up even more? i wish these types of questions wouldn't come up...YOU shouldn't own a BTL imo. haha

we could just trade, ill give you my Q18 for your btl. hows that sound.

Get another battery.

Lose the cap.

Set your gain with a DMM.

Turn up your SSF.

Turn the bass boost off.

Make sure the LPF/HPF are set correctly.

What voltage are you seeing when playing it full volume? You are probably giving the amp such low voltage that its clipping its signal. In that case, set the gain correctly and get a battery dedicated to the amplifier.

Also, 40hz isnt THAT high. Definately higher than I would like, but its not that big of a deal. How much port area is there?

yea, just make sure thats what its really tuned to and not just what thought to be tuned to 40hz.

also, don't beat it when its down. damn, never turn your volume all the way up. human error makes bad chit happen.
