when i was running my btl 15 off this same elec. i never got voltage issues this low(12.8 and under)... i just installed 2 ns 12s at 2 ohms strapped and i am getting the issue, gain at a quarter and volume at half... i have a ohio gen 180/225 ho alt sittin here and will be dropping it in... i also did NOT do a big 3 yet, but the factory wire is 2 runs of 8, will be upgrading to all 0guage soon. with all this accomplished should my voltage maintain a good number.

i was also told that since i am running the power between 2 subs now that it maybe drawing more... is that true?

man there is something else wrong. check you fuses. i have a 90 alt and kinetik 800 & 2400 for my SD 3K and my voltage doesn't drop below 12.4 at full volume. it did at first but after i checked it out. I found out i had a bad fuse. It wasn't blown just no good. so i was running off the rear battery only. so check your voltage before each fuse.

should i start to smell the subs already, i just put em in tuesday and i was playing em last night and smelt something funny, no smoke though, is this normal?

Yah - you will smell subs on high power. It's normal as long as you don't smell it incredibly strong.
