May 20, 200916 yr No problem. In particular when you have a lot to sand you want to do it sooner. Wait long enough so it doesn't just gum stuff up, but that is about it.

I'll hit it with my 5" disc tomorrow morning. Oh, and on another note, I've decided to stick with front stage only for now. I'll see how I like it. If I keep it like that, I'll have a 100.4, a pair of Seas Neos, pair of Tang Band 6.5's and a pair of Sundown E8's to put in the wifes CRV hehehehe.

I'm taking an idea from //M5 to use my PXA-H701's crossovers for 3 way active up front. Front1 will go to the Tweeters, Front2 will go to the Tang Band Mids and Rear will go to the E8's in the doors. I actually have a question about doing that. Will the Auto Time Alignment feature of the H701/RUX-C701 get messed up with having the rear channel actually being up front?

Alpine got that wrong imo...centers the stage right in front of you and you end up with a very narrow left stage and a very wide right stage. Same goes for tuning with the ruler instead of with your ears. It shouldn't matter if the rears are in the front or in the back. Auto t/a just delays them so that the sound arrives at the microphone at the same time.

Figured I'd let it do its thing and then I can adjust from there. I guess I can just try to do it manually. Mainly I want to have the subs aligned with the front stage, not too worried about the width of the front stage yet, I'll play with that later.
May 22, 200916 yr Author Ok, these are coming out better than I imagined. I'm going to apply some rage extreme next, sand that down and see how they look. After that I might just be ready to wrap them with some felt. They fit perfectly in the car. Drove around with them today and they are not loose at all. The factory clips are holding them very tight.So what are your honest opinions? First time fiberglassing, I'm happy with them so far. Not done yet, but still, happy with the progress.

Man, I gotta say that doing this build has given me a lot of respect for you guys that do this all the time. Fabricating with fiberglass is hard work, but it is rewarding when its done, you can look at it and say "I made that".

I've got nothing done on it this week, I started my new job this week so although I'm almost done, its gonna be slow finishing. I'm going to try to get some fabric this week so I can wrap these kicks. After that, I'm going to seal up the inside of the front baffle in the box. There is still some gaps where the ports come through. After that I'll start installing stuff in the car. My alpine came in today and I have all my cables.Oh yea, gotta make my buss bars.I'll post more pics when I get something else done. Thanks for all the comments !!!
June 7, 200916 yr Author Got the front buss bars done. Just need to get some longer 3/8 bolts to mount them to the Kinetik HC1800.Got some longer ones to do for the back.

Just do your homework and read all the fiberglassing how-to's you can find, get good materials and get used to working with the resin and chopped mat. I did all the corners and joints inside the sub box with mat/resin first, so I sort of got used to using it before I started the kicks.Where are the amp(s) going to go? if you had the space it would be cool to enclose the amp and then make a plexiglass cover for it something like this illuminated with LED's that'd be rather fancy. just my .02
