July 19, 200916 yr Author Finally, an update. Got the electrical up front done. Ran 3 new grounds, hooked up the 2 runs of 1/0 that run to the trunk minus the fuses. I'll install the fuses in the fuse holders when I install the rear buss bars. Now I can focus on the trunk. Hopefully it won't be another month
July 21, 200916 yr that bus bar is looking delish ... idk if copper was a good call ... that might corrode like crazy
July 21, 200916 yr Author that bus bar is looking delish ... idk if copper was a good call ... that might corrode like crazyWell it will tarnish for sure, but corrode, not sure about that. I went with copper because they can handle the same amount of current as a larger aluminum bar. I'll see how they do, as long as the battery doesn't leak I'm hoping they will be ok. I wonder if rubbing them down with a little dielectric grease would help?
August 11, 200916 yr Small Update:Cut the top panel and glued it in place. Cut the bevels for the front of the enclosure. I'll do the baffle tomorrow.<img src="http://i463.photobucket.com/albums/qq351/bobvoeh/Build%20Log/DSC00933.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />Where did you get those saw horses? I've been trying to see a brand name or something on them but I can't find one. These are EXACTLY what I need.-Robert

August 13, 200916 yr you could always paint them, but if they do tarnish you can just take a piece of sand paper to the place where you want to put a connection

August 30, 200916 yr Author No new pics, but I finally pulled the box out of the garage and finished sealing up the inside of the baffle. Sealed around the aero ports with foam sealant and then glassed over that as well as glassed the back of the baffle and corners. I never thought I would miss the smell of resin, but it smelled goooood.Hopefully this week I can do some sanding on the kicks and then put some Rage Extreme on them and do some final sanding.
October 12, 200915 yr Author Ok, gotta day off Thanks Columbus!!!Time to finish off this battery holder...A couple of pictures of the bottom that fits perfectly in the sparetire well and the sides of the battery compartments, screwed and glued. Here is what it looks like in the trunk with the batteries in it.Outside walls are on now. What I'm going to do for the center is cut a hexagon out of plywoodthat fits right in the middle and drill a hole in it and use thescrewdown for the sparetire to hold it in. That way I can just takethat piece out and the batteries can come out easier for maintenance. I wanted to get that done and the buss bars done today, but I ran outof time. Thanks for lookin!!!
October 12, 200915 yr Thank you for having a day, I have been trying to do my well since I took my spare and jack out. This gave me some ideas, wont be like yours but it gives me a direction to go in. Looking was priceless!

This gave me some ideas, wont be like yours but it gives me a direction to go in. Looking was priceless!Yea man, its been a while since I've had a day to work on this. I'm happy with how it turned out, but it will only work with small batteries like the D925's. I saw someone else take the spare tire well in his Avalon and with a mallet, he pounded the center down until the whole bottom of the well was flat and he put 3 large AGM batteries in it. I didn't want to demolish mine though. You just gave me an idea. I still have the jack in the car !!! Something else to come out LOL
October 12, 200915 yr Author Very nice idea. How about some deadening down there. Well, the trunk is going to be sealed off from the cabin, subs and ports firing into the cabin so i didn't think I'd need any back there. I guess if I get rattles I can lay some down. Unless my thoughts are flawed (wouldn't be the first time) Edit: And thanks !! Edited October 12, 200915 yr by bobonit

October 13, 200915 yr Author looking awesome. Do you got the HU in yet? Thanks !!Nah, its still in its box in my garage. I want to get the trunk finished up, then I'll move on to finishing up the kicks so they look nice, then I need to deaden the doors, rear deck and everything behind the backseat that hasn't been cut out and make mounts for the Sundown E8's that are replacing the stock door speakers. Once that is all set, I'll wire it all up and get the head unit in hopefully.

How long do you think it'll be until you can put a big, fat DONE stamp on this puppy? Edited October 13, 200915 yr by Chainsaw
October 13, 200915 yr Author Definitely can be a noise source.Well with all this work, I sure don't want any additional noise screwing up the works. I'll have to figure out how much I'm going to need. The rear deck and behind the back seat will already be deadened, should I just do the entire trunk floor including the well?I appreciate all the help and advice, thanks guys !!

These 12 hours days really suck when you have a side project that is unfinished. If I remember correctly I started this thing in January, so I'm getting close to the year mark Thanks for the compliments.
