Posted July 10, 200916 yr Here is my situation. I am in the process of redoing my system and I am currently only running the Image Dynamics CTX65CS comp set up front. Next I plan on dropping a pair of Image Dynamics CX64 V.2 mid-bass speakers in my rear doors. Between the 50.4 and the 125.2, which do you think I can get the most performance out of? My thinking is that with the 50.4 I have more tuning options, and with the 125.2 I will have more power. Both sets of speakers are 4ohms. What do you think???? I know the 100.4 would be the better option, but I don't have the space to fit it nor do I want to spend that much more.
July 10, 200916 yr Why do you want to put speakers in the rear doors? In my opinion, rear fill in most vehicles is useless but if you have a specific reason as to why you want it then we can sort out your other questions. By the way, what vehicle?Reason for edit: Clarification Edited July 10, 200916 yr by casflan

By the way, what vehicle?Reason for edit: ClarificationMy reasoning is because I would like some rear fill to "fill" out the sound and give the rear passengers a little more than just whats coming from up front. In addition to that my reasoning is based on the fact that I currently do not posses the time or skill, unfortunately lol, to go through the process of fabricating custom mounting positions to get optimum performance solely from a front stage. My car is an '08 Altima 3.5SE Sedan. I was thinking that putting a dedicated mid-bass driver in the rear doors vs full-range 6x9's in the rear deck might give me some better sound.
July 10, 200916 yr Well you can't run your comps and "rear fill" off the 125.2 as you need 4 channels.Still a bad idea to add rears.

Shoot me a PM if you are interested.
July 10, 200916 yr Author Well you can't run your comps and "rear fill" off the 125.2 as you need 4 channels.Still a bad idea to add rears. Are you saying I need 4-channels due to having 4 speakers, or because of tuning capabilities? In regards to rears, I have been hearing for a while that they are a not needed. I can understand this for someone driving a coupe or a pickup where the cabin space is smaller and the probability of someone riding in the back is slim. But when it comes to mid-full size sedans and SUV's I am at a loss on this concept, unless you do some kind of custom fabrication where you are running 2 or 3 sets of speakers up front. If someone cares to enlighten me I would be more than appreciative. Thanks Edited July 10, 200916 yr by SilkySmoove
July 10, 200916 yr You need separate channels for separate drivers unless you have a passive crossover to take care of things. On top of that rear fill of midbass won't help rear customers. Think of your home stereo. Even if you have a 5.1/7.1 system when you put it on the music setting ALL of the music comes from the front two speakers and the sub, nothing comes out of the rears. There is no benefit to having rears.
July 11, 200916 yr Admin With a well set up front stage, you won't need rear fill. If you want to keep the components passive by using the provided crossover, go for the 125.2.
