March 24, 201213 yr Comparing outside physical characteristics of a motor is a terrible way to compare woofers. They are two completely different woofers who share the same size ferite slugs.
March 24, 201213 yr looking good, I think th SP4 motor should have been bigger considering the coil sizeagreed... its weird how the SP4 and the Zcon look like they have the same motor...Ironic?All SSA motors look nearly identical to Fi models.perhaps the same company lolthe top plate and bottom plate are diff of course to fit the coil.yes the wofferes are very different, motors not so much lol.I think it would be interesting to compare a SP4 to a ti styled sub with a 4hp
March 24, 201213 yr Author this is the rough sketchup...and i mean rough....of the new box....should be just over 6 cubes after displacement
March 26, 201213 yr No more Zcons ? You're running Fi sp4's now. Why did you change ?! Nice installsSo he could run a sealed box instead of a ported box
March 26, 201213 yr No more Zcons ? You're running Fi sp4's now. Why did you change ?! Nice installsSo he could run a sealed box instead of a ported boxI read the same a while back but not it looks like he's building a ported box. Am I wrong?
March 26, 201213 yr Author I did state the change was to go sealed and get my backseat back.I met up with some team nwspl guys and they felt we could build a ported box in the cargo area.So the box will be ported but it will be small for the zcons optimally. It will be roughly 6 cubes after displacements. We will do some straight up test because not only I but some team members are interested in the results. And Sen posted a pic of one of my problems I found today. The crescendo pa mids are a Tad bigger than the ia comps I had
March 27, 201213 yr I heard the Crescendo mids are not as impressive as a lot of people hoped they would be, they are getting a couple things changed on them with the new batch coming out. Navid is always improving things
March 27, 201213 yr Author Most of the problems are either weak terminal mounts. Or a scratchy sound. The scratchy sound means something got in the coil gap. If you unscrew the middle bullet thing and spray air in there it should clear it out.But hey its a beefy little speaker for only 25 bucks. Hopefully get to hear it this week. Will be matching these with their ft1 supertweetsOn the crescendo 1100.4
March 29, 201213 yr Author Well box will be built tomorrow. Can't wait!Heres some pics to tide you over.how everything looks below the cargo floor. It's a bit messy but I had to do what i could to get this ready for the box build tomorrow. And yes i know the inputs are above the other amp. I have a rubber mat underneath them atm till something better can be thought of.Cargo floor back in waiting on the box build.Team NWSPL shirts!
March 30, 201213 yr Author Project DB 1/0 to 4g adapters on the 1100.4Starting the box.Back wallAnd thats where we are at. Was a good day of good company and much bs'ing. Box will be sanded inside and out, and painted black. With adjustable ports...32hz for daily and 50hz for burping. roughly 10ish cubes after displacements.
March 30, 201213 yr Looking good Phil, I'm very interested in what you think of this setup. Great progress so far!
March 30, 201213 yr Author I didn't think it was gonna be possible to do ported in the back. The Team NWSpl guys told me otherwise lol.
