Okay, so i messed up a little. I have a hifonics bxi2601d amp, and i wanted to wire my sub to 1ohm. I ordered a 12" fi BTL fully loaded dual 1ohm model... OOPS! anyways, i tried to change the order, we'll see how that works. If i am stuck with the 1ohm model, and i wire my sub to 2ohms, meaning it will get the rated 1700w rms, (probabaly 1200-1500 actually) do you think it'll sound under powered? I'm running 0/1 gauge wires, and my box is 2.73^3. Stock alt and battery for now. My goal is to sound better than a jl 13w7, my buddy said hes hitting 143db on the reader. you think Ill get him? :)

sound better or sound louder? You can always increase the size of the box with lower power. And telling us that your friend has a JL 13w7 doesn't help much. Getting good numbers on the mic results from install and testing.

sorry, my goal is to sound louder, deeper, not cleaner. Hes got 1 13w7, stock battery, and alt, 4 gauge wires a directed d2400 amp. im putting my setup in an 02 cougar if that helps at all.

All I can say is build a bigger box with that power and have a lot of port area.

This is a useless topic, nobody knows who will sound better (too many install factors). Number one your gonna need to upgrade your electrical if you want to avoid dimming and get the most out of your amp and subwoofer. A sub will sound like a sub should sound, regardless if its underpowered (just wont be reaching its limits but it will still put out bass and a good amount of it).

change the order...
