Posted December 8, 200915 yr I have a set of cd1e horns and need to tune this amplifier down. The horns are 40 watts each @ 8ohm. What should the output voltage look like from the amplifier?Does this sound right?E^2/R = W(W*R)^(1/2)(40*8)^(1/2) ~= 17.89 volts
December 8, 200915 yr Author Also what should my input voltage be at when I tune this? Should the input voltage be whatever my car's voltage is at idle?
December 8, 200915 yr http://www.sengpielaudio.com/calculator-ohm.htmso if you have resistance and wattage (power) it is the square root of WxR√((PxR))and ^0.5 is also the same thing as the square root!! Edited December 8, 200915 yr by CrazyKenKid
December 8, 200915 yr Also what should my input voltage be at when I tune this? Should the input voltage be whatever my car's voltage is at idle?yes if i understand the question. but mabye if the power supply in the 125.2 is regulated then no. so this would be more of a personal question to jacob lol!
December 8, 200915 yr Author I know the saz amps are unregulated but I am not sure about the sax series. I will have to wait until someone posts something about this. Thanks again.PS - What I posted is exactly what you said just in different variable names lol
December 8, 200915 yr Author The amps are not regulated. So would you recommend I tune this with the car on so the input voltage is the same as my car's voltage at idle instead of battery voltage?
December 8, 200915 yr Author These are for my horn tweeters. I would ear match if it was for my mids. When it comes to tweeters, they get damaged a lot easier even if it is a small unnoticeable clip or excessive power. I would rather tune them correctly just to make myself feel better lol.NVM I understand what you are saying now lol - forget what I just posted ahahah. Edited December 8, 200915 yr by Lucky 76
December 8, 200915 yr hey make sure when you get these horns all set up you post a good review b/c i might have to buy a set eh! and also include how you set them either if you use a dmm or if you use a oscope or just by the good ol ear! and make a video if you get time!!
December 8, 200915 yr If you run them full on gain they will RIP your head off. Set your mids and then S L O W L Y turn up the tweets to match (by ear)

December 8, 200915 yr Author The nice part about the 360.2 is it allows me to turn my gains up and down for my lows, mids, and highs from the front of the car through their gain knob. I would like to see how loud I can get these bad boys and then tone them down from the front.
