ok so i got my self a 3000d and am waiting on my fi q 15" D2 to come. i was wondering if i ever expand to a seconded one if i could run the 2 at .5 at around 2400 watts and not piss off the amp for daily use. other than that any tuning suggestion for the single fi Q besides don't crank the gain knob all the way up. and if u use a dmm what should it read for 1100 - 1200 watts, at the moment it says a bought 70V but that dos not sound right it would have blown my 100A fuse by now it that was true. thank you for your time.

I think you should get two D2's and wire the VC's in series and the speakers in parallel for a 2 ohm load on the amp, that will yield you approximately 1600 watts from the 3000D. It will help your subwoofers and amplifier last much longer.

As far as your gain problem goes: Power = Voltage x Current

only problem is the Q with bp power will need ~1200watts rms, and this is going in a Camry..

No, just because they are thermally rated at 1000 watts and with the BP power an extra 200 watts doesn't mean you have to give it the whole 1200 watts.

I have 2000 watt rated subwoofers and have one 3000D at 1 ohm on them, it will save the subwoofers and the amplifier in the long run.

It doesnt need 1200 watts to perform well at all, that is a misconception in car audio. There is no such thing as underpowering a subwoofer at all.

good to know, well what should i do with just the 1 that i can afford? just turn the gain up then back off 1/8 of a turn?

I'd wire it to 4 ohms, the 3000D is underrated so it will be about 1000 watts. Perfect for a Q.

I would run it at 4 ohms to be honest with to not take any risk in ruining the sub. But yeah very low gains and great control on the volume knob.

Damn Duran we made the last two post at the same time, your a few seconds a head of me :drink40:

You owe me a beer then ;)

You got it, whenever Im in your town. :fing34:

Why did you buy a 3000 watt amp for one Q? If you want to expand to a second Q down the road, that's fine, but you should be ordering dual 1 ohm coils so that you can wire the subs in series/parallel later and give each 1500 watts with the amp at 1 ohm.
