Posted February 5, 201015 yr Ok so recently I had my two cvrs 15 stolen so its time to get a new system for my birthday which in in march. I want a good sounding sub so I have been thinking about the Q18 because I want a sub that will sound good playing lots of different types of music. but I also want a sub thats going to be able top get pretty loud...coming from two cvr 15s I want bass that's almost as loud as them. I listen to lots of different types of music from reggae, indie, rap just about anything... so Do you guys thing the Q18 is good for me? If not what other sub would you suggest? BL? or what trunk space of my car isn;t very big dimensions are H16XW35XL22 ..the sub will be run on a jbl1200.1 amp.
February 5, 201015 yr Your not a Fi Q customer, from what you described above, look into the BL. Or take advantage of the Sundown Z15 closeout. Great woofer at a great price. Sundown Z15 D2 and D4 Close-Out Special - SSA Car Audio Forum
February 5, 201015 yr Author how would the bl sound on various types of music? I really want a sub that's able to play anything I throw at it but still get loud when I play rap and stuff.

February 5, 201015 yr Author ok so now its 15 or 18? which to get? and what should my tuning? around like 35hz?
February 5, 201015 yr Author ok so how do you think this would compare to the two cvrs? the were only on 500w each and in a sealed box
February 5, 201015 yr Better that is why we recommended you to get them if we thought the CVR's were better then we would tell you to go get some more.
February 5, 201015 yr With the dimensions you gave us earlier the 15" will fit with the proper enclosure, putting a sub such as an 18" in your case in a small enclosure will choke the sub and you dont want that. Just a heads up
February 5, 201015 yr Author yeah I just now realized that looking at the suggested specs i doubt I would be able to fit an 18..how would the q15 compare to the bl I read that the Bl doesn't sounds as good on much as the q but its a few dbs louder, I so want a sub that's going to get loud but I also want it to sound awesome on all types of music Edited February 5, 201015 yr by drumminian
February 6, 201015 yr For your needs it will sound great. You are misreading posts. It would be a mistake if you bought the Q, you are much better suited to the BL. You will think its the best sounding sub you've ever heard once installed.
February 6, 201015 yr The Q can get plenty loud, dependent on the install. Coming from your two cvr's I think you would still be left in awe from the 18" in the right enclosure, great on all kinds of music. I wouldn't take the Q out as an option. Give the SSD a look too.

I haven't read much about the SSD's either

February 6, 201015 yr IMHO, the people who really truly need a Q are SQ nutcases! lol (not knocking Q buyers at all, excellent sub for an excellent price)A BL is the sub for you. It will sound great, no worries about that, and pound in a properly sized and tuned enclosure.
