so my 2-SAZ2000's will be hidden under my sub box as soon in this pic here:

so as you can see i will have no access to my gains to fine adjust them! so then i thought well if i max them out AND plug in the remote gain knob and follow my ears for clipping and bottoming out and such, all the while using the gain knob

now will this work? did i over or under think this? did i miss something? like is it bad to turn up the gains all the way then use the remote to turn them down(control them)

i assume what i want to do will work but i just wnat to double check b/c once everything is in lol i don't want to take it out just move the gains an 1/8 of an inch down or up if you know what i mean?

any other idea's would be welcomed also!

also you can view my build log for more pics!

when i had all 6 of my amps in, i kept the gains maxed out and just used a PAC Audio gain controller to control all of them.

Now.. u can set the LPF by ear but the subsonic is gonna be tricky...

Try this- Can u put the box in ur back seat area?

If u can, set the subsonic then.

Subs will unload quicker when they are out in the open, even in a box, vs being sealed up in a trunk so u cant just lay them out in the driveway and do it... You'd be setting the subsonic too high.

PAC gain controller can you post a link?

and yes i completely forgot about the subsonic filter crap...

yes it can fit into the rear seat and that is how i will set my subsonic filter!! thanks for the great idea's!

i know i can always count on you for a good idea!

does that just modulate the rca voltage then? almost like the sub controls on a h/u? also if i use one of those would i set the gain on the amps to max?

yep, u can just set it to max if u want.

The controller controls the preout voltage in the rcas..

Unlike typical controllers that come with amps, these controllers when turned all the way down, will completely disable bass so u got plenty of "bandwidth" to play with on these things.

Just remember for example sake-

Let's say ur amp started clipping half way up at a certain volume level...

When u set your gains to max, it would reach clipping at the same point on the controller or very close to it.

Just think of it this way- when u set your gains on your amp to max, the remote gain controller is your "Master Gain" at the driver seat.

I typically have mine almost all the way down so i dont get headaches from all the 150s goin around in the car, hehe.

lol so you don't get head aches!! lol!!! good call!

another fast question doesn't the remote gain knob on the saz amps do this also..or not really or for my application this device you suggested work best in my setup!

i dont run sundown mono amps so i wouldnt know.

What i do know is that since u got 2 amps, u would need to control BOTH controllers.

With a PAC Audio controller, it controls the rcas so u can have 1,000,000,000,000,000 bass amps in the car and that single controller can still control all of them.

very good idea!!! thanks again

i did forget to add that not only can the PAC controller completely disable the signal, it can also overdrive it as well.

I remember in my setup, having all gains turned up, pac controller could only move about 1\4 of the way before a sine wave was clipped.

On a single amp setup, the gain had to be set about 65% up on the same volume level...

Now, this was partially low voltage problem too but the controller can overdrive the signal for comp use...

For safety reasons.. u can set the amp's gains to half if u want... u can still overdrive it some for quick spurts... but not intended for continuous use.

could run a maxxlink and run it into the br in on the amps, then you'll have all the adjustments on the maxxlink.

ken use a scope and be done with it, then there is no guess work.

Gary i think I will come to visit you one day and use your scope! lol!
