Posted June 13, 201015 yr how do you guys figure out how long an external port needs to be? is there a website or program i can plug numbers into? im using the box calc. from "torres" and plugging in the external port numbers doesn't change tuning. please help, thanks
June 13, 201015 yr External ports are going to be the same length as internal. Only thing your not doing is subtracting the port volume from the internal air space!
June 13, 201015 yr If I remember correctly this post My Box Tuning Calculator Download - SSA Car Audio Forum has a download for a calc. that has input for external ports. Hope this helps and Good Luck!
June 13, 201015 yr Author thats the calc. im using, but when you punch in any number for external port, it does nothing to change tuning.
June 13, 201015 yr Author i just went to 12volt.com used there little calc. i came up with this. the box is 1.44 cubes, single 4" aero port, for 30 hz = 23" port, for 35hz = 16" port. does that sound about right?also, when you cut the pipe for the port, the port should be measured from tip to tip of the flares correct, so for 16" port, that should be 16" from tip of flare to tip of flare correct?
