Posted June 17, 201015 yr Been a member since I ordered my 2 stock spec SSD 12's a couple of weeks ago. I have noticed most people tend to go for BL's and BTL's. So all you fellow SSD owners let's see what you got and how you like them. Pics and videos would be nice too! Info on spl numbers, what kinda box you're running, auto make and model, etc.... Anything you wanna share. Mine come tomorrow so I won't have them in the car for a couple of weeks while I run new power wire and build the box. Def taking some pics though. So show some Fi SSD love people! Let's put all these BL and BTL threads to shame!
June 17, 201015 yr I own an SSD 18" with the copper coil option (now stock). Some pics: Box its in (which is in my room right now, playing away until i get my amp for the car):Actually need to do some work on my box again. I have had it for a long time, and as of lately, its almost tearing itself apart. I need to add some bracing. Edited June 17, 201015 yr by hatrix

June 17, 201015 yr Author Woot! Woot! Brown finally came! 2- SSD 12's w/ stock optionsNext to a 12" Square Brutus. June 19, 201015 yr I have 1 12. Haven't had a lot of subs but this is the best so far.http://www.cardomain.com/ride/3153500
August 29, 201015 yr Yes, they are in my house, for the moment anyway. I lost my license for a bit.But- they get down and dirty, maybe too well, people complain about their windows rattling for almost 3 blocks. But I am thinking of upgrading to a pair of Q's if I can find an interested buyer for this pair. I am a huge fan of SQ.No idea on numbers, but I have never had a chance to turn them up to 11, I am afraid I will break my windows. I blow light bulbs and break things when they vibrate off my shelves as it is. On a good subsonic song like "The Bass Will Destroy You", I can watch the blinds around my house flutter to the bassline, and have managed some small hairtricks in my house with that song.I'm hoping to get a ride lined up for the Newport City Sound Off next month, and see what they will do on the TL.
August 29, 201015 yr While I don't own any SSD's myself my little brother bought a new 18" SSD w/ BP for his 2008 Grand Prix. We're going to shoehorn it into an 8cuft net enclosure tuned to 33hz sealed off to the cabin of the car. We'll be starting the building very soon and we'll have to build it into the trunk of the car. No way to slide that in, lol. Anyway here's a couple of pics of the sub. Here's his SSD next to one of my 12" Q's.

August 30, 201015 yr Author Sucks to hear about the license issue. I've been happy as can be with my 12's. but now I'm getting used to them, so I am re-coning them to 15's for more output and swapping out the POS Soundstream Rub amp for a Sundown 2000d. That should boost output a bit! I wanted to recone to 18's, but I wouldn't have the space for the box, plus the rear battery and amp. Not without doing some major mods, which I don't wanna do. That's the one thing I hate about Mid size SUV's. The tiny cargo area's.
August 30, 201015 yr Some more woofer porn for you guys....I have a Soundstream Rubicon 2500 that I picked up for them, though they are dual 2's so I am not getting the full power out of it, but I have a 1500bd on them that just doesnt sound as good to me, though it gets just as loud, at least running at 2 ohms, anyway.I am really happy with the sound quality of the Rubicon, though people tell me it doesn't do rated, I am really not too worried about it. What model are you running?I feel you with the airspace limitations, these subs really need about 15 cubic feet per driver to see their full potential, and even double that would be better. But I have a fullsize Bronco, so I got nothing but room in the back! I'm thinking they would look sweet walled off behind the back seat with about 2 to 4 square feet of port area, should blow some people away, after it blows the windows out of my truck first! But, like I said, I am trying to find an interested buyer for this pair, as well as the RF 1500BD and a RF 400A4, for an upgrade to a pair of fully loaded Q's, in dual 1's. August 30, 201015 yr Author I am really happy with the sound quality of the Rubicon, though people tell me it doesn't do rated, I am really not too worried about it. What model are you running?Im using the RUB1.1600d. The output board has blown twice on two different amps for no reason that I can find. Tested everything in my system a zillion times with no issues found. Only amp I have ever had an issue with. First time it happened I chalked it up to a lemon that got by, second time though I'm just going with shitty QC. Both blew within 2 weeks of being hooked up and both were brand new. Soundstream is replacing the second one that blew too. So when that gets here its promptly going to get getting posted f/s for cheap! lol Edited August 30, 201015 yr by Teampapi79
August 30, 201015 yr I have had a single 12" SSD, 2 12" SSD, 2 10" SSD, and a 15" SSD sold a bit back, and then there's a 10" new version SSD sitting in the basement right now. My highest score to date was like 145dB with 2 10" SSD on 2k in a trunk.
August 30, 201015 yr I never owned an SSD but helped somebody build an enclosure for an 18" flatwire D1. I was impressed with how low and loud this woofer was. These are a great buy imo!

I have had my ruby for a few months now, and have had no issues with it at all, it's never gone into thermal or shut off, but then again, I haven't been able to find its limits, though the RJ11 jack in the bass knob is a bit finicky, but otherwise, it has been a trooper. Do you run yours at 1 ohm?
