Made in France is one reason!

They do make good mids and woofers but the tweets are awful imo. To bright for my taste.

Why's this shit so expensive?

I mean the prices are crazy, are they made of pure gold?

Anybody heard these?

Focal Website

their sound is gold....

and it depends where u buy them .... here in Europe u can get them "cheap" :drink40:

heard some focal systems...and they r not my taste either ... for me Morel or DLS :)

When it comes to some companies you are just paying for the name, other companies you are paying for the extra advertising and then there are the ones where your paying for all the research/development and quality of product they are producing. Focal is up there with the latter of the three, is it the best no but far from the worst. It depends what your going for and what your needs are, components can be costly. When you go component shopping you will find that out, but sometimes the most expensive model is not always the best model to ear or for your application with some companies (I noticed that when I went Hertz shopping)?

I like Hertz the best and then Morel, hopefully I can hear a pair of Bravox one of these days.

Yeah, but $6,300 for a 6 inch woofer, 3 inch mid, tweet, and crossover? I mean come on.....

u dont have to buy it :idiot:

We sell Focal at the store I work at and their speakers blow away the competition. The Polyglass v30s are one of the best sounding passive comp sets I've heard.

And the Utopias are very expensive yes, but the also allow for the most flexibility for an out of the box component set, and their quality control is top notch.

I couldn't justify the price of some of their stuff but they are good no matter what.

The Access line is a great little set with great output. Sharp on the tweet though. Good mid/mid bass out of the 6.5" 2 way comp set.

Everybody says the highs are sharp

Thats like a lot of things in life , there are $10-20 bottles of Hennessey and there are $3000-$6000 bottles of Hennessey as well. Some things are not made for everyone to have but trust me some people out there will buy it and enjoy it.

Who would buy it...

Our Focal rep has a set :P

Well of course he does lol

How nice is it?

Haven't heard it yet. Hopefully at the end of the month at our Competition. Last year he had the Kevlar 3 ways and it sounded amazing. All active processing, and he did an amazing job with the install.

who would buy some components about half of what your car is worth....... :peepwall:

Well put

Most people wont, while some people will. There are people out there whose systems will out value there cars, its not a question of would you buy it. Obviously we know the average person wont but someone will, so dont focus on what you wont but but focus on what you would buy. It was made for a reason and there selling enough of them to keep making them.

Everytime I tell my friends how much my subs or amps cost they look at me like Im crazy, your gonna buy a $600 sub and $800 amp. :trippy:

Their 18" woofer's $1,899 lol

I mean we all know we can do better than that

that depends on your definition of "better"

some people want loud, some people want clear, some people want status symbols and buy something just because of a name or price tag. does a mercedes do a better job of getting you from point A to point B than a kia? no, but im sure if you had the means, you would entertain the thought of putting a benz in the driveway (with focal speakers in it). be an educated consumer and buy what fits your needs.

I want one really bad just because I'll never have it lol

If you look at the truly high end companies, that is not out of line. The Utopias are really some of the nicest sets out there. You can look at the Rainbow CS360.30 Passive Reference set at $13,000, and it's sister the CS36.30 Active (just the drivers) for $11,350.00. Or if you would rather be cheap, they have a 2 way offering, the CS260.30 Reference which is a passive set for $7,400.

These sets offer a certain amount of detail and sound that you won't get from a $200 component set. But they offer so much that they can show off any imperfections in the signal chain. So guys running these are running Milbert tubes or Sinfoni solid states, and they have amazing installs.

Yes, in some people's opinions these sets are worth it. They feel there is no point of diminishing returns. The differences are so subtle that most couldn't pick them up, but critical listeners can. When you step into the realm of true audiophile quality you are stepping into another world. Home speakers can go for half a million dollars, is it worth it? Are they made of gold? To the people willing to spend the time and money on these systems, yes they are.

Many people I know who don't care about car stereos shit themselves when they hear what kind of investment I have in my cars. Hell, most people here would scoff at the cash that has been shoveled into my front stage, as they prefer tons of overbearing bass to real sound quality. If I were running a vehicle set up well enough for a set of Utopias I might own a set, although I like the Seas Lotus RS-165/1 set's sound better, and I like it's $1700 pricetag much better as well... But what really matters is the system as a whole when you reach this level of performance. You can't toss a set of Utopias in stock locations with a Cadence amp and expect it to be worth that kind of money...

However as a general rule I don't like Focal. The tweeters are extremely crisp, and very forward. To me it is like jamming glass in my ears. I greatly prefer a more delicate silk tweeter, and a more laid back mid to the aggressive Focal mids.

So to answer your question, yes the Utopias are like sex with Jennifer Aniston and Megan Fox, and Bree Olsen all at the same time, but their regular everyday line is more like sex with this chick:

I'd hit it :fing34:

Very nicely put. My friends flip out when i tell them i spent $290 on a BL, imagine if I spent $7000.

Does she have an ass like Jennifer Aniston and Megan Fox, and Bree Olsen ???? Ugly can be fixed. LOL!

I have listened to several entry level comp sets (Pioneer, Audiopipe, Jbl, Clarion, dragster,.... And many more). They all were far away from the Focal sets!

Yes, Focal is expensive. But you must know what you want.

I like clear and powerful sound, and I don't mind paying for quality.

I run a set of 165 KP, and they're amazing. I have them for 4 years. They were in my older car. About 500$ well invested IMO !

I know the tweeters are not the best I've heared. They are not the worst on the market !

In my country we only have access to Focal and Davis Acoustics for good car audio speakers.

I'm quite sure our local shops sell a lot more Audiopipe and Pioneer!!!
