Posted September 26, 201014 yr would like some help in looking up any installs that use four or more 15/18" xcons..... attempting to become familiar with these larger, more extreme set-ups....any info, links, direction offered is greatly appreciated....i did see thumpers 4 15" xcons with the all white, glassed enclosure.....any one know what this metered at.... the specs of it?thanks for the help fellars, i plan on returning the favor soon, perhaps with my own xcon build log.chop
September 26, 201014 yr Will off Team SSA is running 4 15(maybe 18) inch XCONs, it's petty fucking loud lol if you look you should find some videos on the board
September 26, 201014 yr Author thanks bro.... i will look it up..... oh, and if you have not been told as of yet, your install is ftw, congrates!!!chop
September 26, 201014 yr You should look on the team members pages....pshhh we know xcons are loud y even try
September 26, 201014 yr Author thanks for the sugestions... did not see any..... other than what i mentioned, i did remember seeing big wills install, trying to look up the specs on it now, as in the most current power being applied and what numbers are being put up....is there any xcon installs out there with more than 4 subs?um, why even try what? yes i know they are loud.... not the result of the research desired....attempting to offer a bit of insight as to what one might achieve with similar gear.....i have been around the xcon for awhile threw my team mates, thus gaining my respect for them.now i am wanting to know as much as i can about the larger, more extreme installs using multiple xcons...thanbk again for any input...chop
September 26, 201014 yr Admin So far that I remember, 4 Xcon's is the largest multi-Xcon install. There has been a 6-Icon install in a van.
September 26, 201014 yr Author i guess i have seen that cone area is ftw mentioned a few hundred times.....but i have never taken the time time ponder much on it...i will take the opportunity to brush up my skills on figuring out cone area ...... of different sub size combinations....curious to what fits nicely in the area..... chop
September 26, 201014 yr Author okay.....i found nothing yet... faili guess i am wanting to know how to find the cone area of the different model xcons...i know what volume they each like....wanting to play with several designs , attempting to learn what each option could offer.thankschop
September 27, 201014 yr thanks bro.... i will look it up..... oh, and if you have not been told as of yet, your install is ftw, congrates!!!chopThank you chop
September 27, 201014 yr Author i know where there is gonna be a 6 18 xcon build in the future wow, that will be a monster....
September 27, 201014 yr Author Something I found on another forum and saved for quick reference.look at you!!! coming to the rescue again!!!! ftw dear sir, you are are definetly f-t-w!chop
September 27, 201014 yr Author sooooo, six 12"s = 678.58 & four 15"s = 706.86from the general rule of thumb, that more cone area is ftw.....it would seem that the four 15"s is the way to go.....my question is... where does the additional motors come into play? i want to assume that the addition of two more motors would be the louder set-up...this is baseing my findings that a single 15" (xcon) likes 4 cubes of air space per sub...and the 12" likes 2.4 cubes per sub.... 4 15"s would want 16 cubes6 12"s would want 15 cubesobviously there is the addition of the port area.... in which the extra cube of air space would be welcomed....sooo, am i on the right approach...saying that the 6 12"s should have the bigger advantage, even though the cone area is slightly less?thanks for helping me ponder this....chop
September 27, 201014 yr Author this little chart would be a dandy to store in our "how to" section...it not only offers the how to, but also offers a simple refrance guide for when you need to grab the info on the fly....just my .02...chop
September 28, 201014 yr Author hmmmmmmmm..............any potential fellow SSA team mates or audio minded gurus out there wanna weigh in and offer a brother a little input or guidance?perhaps if goals need to be stated( these seem to be popular) mine are to ground pound daily...meaning;to have the abilty to play loud, deep bass notes with the install , vehicle running, for extended periods of time... on music....wanting hair tricks, to be a sinch, floating cans, bottles, small animals....etc.chop
September 28, 201014 yr small animals, lolWhats is going in? How much space do you have avalible? You might have said, so sorry if i missed it.
September 28, 201014 yr Author we will be building a 86 cutlass suprem , a wall will be installed....some of the space currently is speculation...well, a blind gues, lolso, this is somewhat of a hypothetical<sp,(sorry) situation....i would think that with alittle effort, one could pull 20/22 cubes out of the area available.... i intend on using centrally located aeros to help if neede for the ports..to save some airspace...if needed....i like the look of them, they tend to sound good, easy installation, use less air space,,,
September 28, 201014 yr If you have that space, i would go with 4 15's on some good power. That should help you get to your goal and cost less than a bunch of 12's.I would say 18's and if you have room go for it, but might be a squeeze.
September 28, 201014 yr Author really...hmmmm.well, the 4 15" s is in the original build plans, different car, but the original plans...yes they would be cheaper, and the power will be there , planning on a 3500d for each pair ....the 18"s , it is on my mind.... but the four 15"s will require 16 cubes plus additional airspace for my ports , bracing and subs.... so 20 will show up quickly...the 4 18"s will be at 28 plus for opt...before we add any extra... that is where the van was going to come into play, lolbut i am still wanting to speculate that 6 12"s at 1750 each, in the proper airspace would give the 4 15"s in a same enviroment a run for thier money...with all that said.... four 15"s will offer a budget toward several other goals....and believe me, the list just keeps growin, lolchop
September 30, 201014 yr Admin If the 15's are best suited for air space and budget, go that direction. Don't feel the Xcon's need full rms power to be great performers.
October 1, 201014 yr I'm in the same spot.Don't know if I should go with 4 15's or try and fit in 4 18's.Got the space if I take the back seat out and wall it . But I kind of wanted to keep the back seat. So, maybe 4 15's or 2 18's. I just don't know. Hummmmmmmmm!!!!!!!!!!!!! In your car i'd go with 4 15's. Good luck in your project Jason
