Hi guys,

A friend of mine wants to buy 2 12" Mayhem.

He has an MTX te4000 amp for the bass, and he will do all the electrical upgrades he can later. He already has some Optima batteries, he needs to do the big3.

His old sub was a Pioneer premier 15" spl monster !! But it has a problem ! All 3 Pioneer spl subs I saw here have been blown !!!

I am trying to tell him that he needs only a 12" sub because he drives a small car with a small trunk : it's a Renault Clio ( 2 or 4 doors, I don't remember), hatchback car.

He thinks he need 2 Mayhem on his MTX amp.

What would you do ?

One Mayhem D1 to use the amp at 2 ohms, and later another sub to run both with the same amp, if he has the room for 2 subs?

Or one D2 to use the amp at one ohm ? 4000 watts may be too much for this sub ? I don't know. This leaves room for a big box and some batts in the hatch.

He will not be able to run another 4000 watts amp for a second sub !

waiting for some ideas and opinions.

:thanx:

Two subs on 4kw. :peepwall:

2 subs would be better(more cone area) but I care for the room available.

Can one single Mayhem support 4000 watts ? It's not for burps, but for loud listenings. He has a lot of speakers in the front doors !

IMO, why not get a SINGLE Mayhem 15" D2 instead? it would be simpler that way.. or go for a single 12" D2 and i think the mayhems can handle 4000 rms daily and it'll take it like a champ. its a tough driver, it sure can. you can still play loud and do demos all day without a problem, and do burps if you want to.

2 pcs 12 inchers maybe louder.. but with space constraints, a single sub in the right box would sound much better.

Mayhem + 4000 rms = very happy woofer!

goodluck :D

What Mr. Pacutepaw said!

If you can, get a 15"

But the Mayhem is one heck of a durable subwoofer

Thanks guys !

I think he can fit a 3.5ft3 ported box in his hatch, no more. That's short for 2 12's, or for a single 15" , isn't it ?

AA SMD 15" and it would take 4000 like a champ...

Too expensive for a single sub. + Shipping is already super expensive, as I'm not in the USA.

If 4000 is too much for one, it would be better to run one at 2 ohms on the 4000 watts amp. or use the 4000 watts on 2 Mayhems. So, DVC 1 on each sub.

Ok. I'll see what my friend wants to do with his money !!!:captain:

Thanks

Nick, you got a mail from me, I forgot to tell you I NEED UPS orFEDEX. USPS : only Express Mail International. Only those 3 give me tracking and fast delivery.

:thanx: :thanx:

well, the MTX TE4000 is rated at 3750 rms @ 1 ohm AND 2200 rms @ 2 ohm. though 2200 rms is just right for daily. though i'd still go for a single sub setup @ 1 ohm, it can push a single sub 2500 rms sub well.. just be extra careful with the gains and bass knob..

i just went for more power for more headroom since not all the time you are at 14v or above every time the bass pounds. so even though you're down to 13v or lower you're still feeding you're sub enough power....

make sure to have it level matched so only clean power goes to the amp..

this is just my preference guys :)

You're better off with two woofers on the MTX amp, you will kill a mayhem with that much power on a daily setup

they're built like tanks but tanks can only take so much.

Thanks for all your inputs !

I think my friend is dead set on 2 12"s. So, he'll go for 2 Mayhem on that MTX amp.

He had a frist offer but the price is really high !!!

I'm waiting on Nick for an offer.
