I'm curious as to what difference I should except to see switching amps.

Currently I have some shitty old soundstream amp, MAYBE giving my SSD 18" 300w. I'm not even sure on that.

I'm going to be switching it out for a SAE-1000d. What kind of output difference should I be expecting ? I'm sure overall sound quality will be better, as my current amp is garbage.... But will there be more SPL ? That's what I'm curious about.

going from 300 to a 1000 is over double the power! you will see a lot more SPL out of the 1000 amp! be ready for an experience when you install the sae 1000d! lol

i used to be in your same spot! i went from 200 to 2000rms over night and wow! BIG BIG differences really make the sub(s) shine!

Over 9000!!!

Seriously though, hard to say. You're more than doubling the power so you SHOULD get some gains and have an audible difference. Only way to know for sure is to try it out and see. :drink40:

Should be an audible difference as far as being louder, about the same SQ.

Generally speaking it takes doubling the power to make an audible difference.

Install it and let us know :ughdunno: , it should be beneficial or otherwise all amps would be rated at 300 watts.

Hahaha guess that does make sense.

I'll hopefully be buying the amp soon. Can't wait for that, it's much needed :)

Which older Soundstream do you have?

You will be able to tell the difference as you are more than doubling your power.

I'm not even sure, I would have to check. It's pretty old though. I believe its from the 90's or so, as it was used on some Rockford Power 10's from the 90's.

Lemme know what amp it is, I may be interested in it if it comes up for sale.

I'll check it out. It doesn't even have a subsonic filter though lol.

10*log(1000/300) = 5.2db

Ofcourse that doesn't take things like power compression and other real-world issues into account, so don't expect a full 5db increase.

Haha, well thanks for the rough estimate.
