Would take forever by hand or electric hand sander.
November 4, 201014 yr Nice. I have a tip like you had for gleuning pieces together.Use a lot of glue, but before you glue sand the pieces a little bit.(with grit 80-120)Just so the glue soaks in the wood.

November 10, 201014 yr Author Beautiful kerf I've seen better. I am thinking about using MDF only for the kerf. Plywood is PITA for kerfing...
November 10, 201014 yr Author I don't know much about taking pictures. Gluing...Glued. Some minor sanding on the right too.Baffle.And the flushing panel.The bigger circle is not sanded yet. Needs a little bit more work on it.I had to put it. Looks nice.That's it for today.
November 21, 201014 yr Author It has been like 10 days since I last worked on the box... :/Someone took my camera, so I'll post these not so good phone pictures.The 45 at the end of the port.Gluing it. 4 screws in the back. One clamp on top and note the big scrap piece of wood I made for a minute. It has a rectangle cut in it so you can put it in the corners of the box. Bought some t-nuts. I'll be using the old hex head screws I had.End of the port. Routed on both sides. Then went through the belt sander.Gluing the baffle. 6 clamps and 4 screws. That's enough right?
November 22, 201014 yr Author Baffle all glued up.Mmmm kerfing. The piece between the two bigger ones. Not a straight 45 but smoothed out. It's easy with the big belt sander, so why not. And,,, gluing the last big piece of the port.A piece of veneer to hide the not so beautiful back of the kerf.It's 11PM and still drying, but I might try to put the top and listen to the box tomorrow.
November 23, 201014 yr Author I am listening to the box right now and I am speechless. It's ... beautiful. That thing is KILLING THE LOWS. Can't wait to put it in the 4Runner and with that cabin gain... Router with 45 bit. Doing the corners for one little piece.The little piece getting glued.And it's closed. Process > pre-drill, add glue, clamp, screw down.Poor clamp getting bend from too much hand power.Old vs New. Anyone wanna guess what's the weight difference? I am amazed how light it is with plywood. Now I think the old box is awful. Particle board, wrong tuning...That 25$ POS (no that's not a brand, it's stands for piece of shit ) woofer miraculously is killing the lows. Can't wait to get a SA-12.Picture of the last thing I glued. It was routed, then went through the belt sander.I don't have terminals for the moments, so the wire is in the port.That's it for today. I have to paint the port, put the carpet on and make the terminals, and it will be done. Any comments welcome.

November 24, 201014 yr The enclosure looks great!!I gave up trying to kerf mdf, not enough patients I guess.The belt sander and the clamps in the beginning look homemade, probably out last stuff you can buy nowadays.
December 8, 201014 yr Author The box was painted a couple of days ago and it's dry now. I've decided to double up all sides. Then make the terminals, carpet and call it done.Satin white paint.A closer view of the port. That's the cables reflection, don't worry. And the artifact you see will be covered in carpet as designed. Big piece of carpet.A threaded rod for the terminals, nuts, washers and copper terminals for the cables.
December 12, 201014 yr Author Did some work today. The box now has all sides double except the smaller side panels.Bottom already glued. Working on the top piece. Screws and clamps as always.That's nasty. Side view. Small piece of wood added to the flushed panel to resemble the double baffle when the carpet is on. I'll explain that better when it's finished.Doing the box terminals using a threaded rod. I made two holes(which will be sealed with silicone), cut the rod, then some nuts and a washer at each end so it doesn't go into the wood that much when screwed.Tomorrow carpet? ... :)

December 14, 201014 yr Author The box is 99% done. Doubled up. Damn thing weights so much more now.All edges run with the round over bit with the router.Getting ready to carpet.Brand new blade(in the small paper thingy).Doing the sides. My room will smell of glue for a week or so. Done with that.The terminals.And voila. =)Side view.Subwoofer in.Needs some work around the port and baffle paint. Some minor sanding to clean the glue, paint and DONE. Also need to put some silicone around the terminals.That's it guys. Any comments welcome.
