Posted November 30, 201014 yr Sooo... I took advantage of the black today sale and I ordered a xcon18" D2. And I can either get the new sundown 1500D ($400 shipped NEW). Or find a new 2000D ($? Used/refurb). What would you recomend? (Based solely on either 250 over or under...) im not to worried about the little price difference if there is one. I think that im leaning towards the 2000d . Just because 250 more watts on a 1750watt sub doesn't seem like that much more. Problem is finding one. Db-r doesn't have any now. Will be ordering it in december some time. Just want opinions.I guess ill go ahead and let you guys know this is my very first system. And install of any kind(never have even installeda HU. Lol) .look for a build log soon. Got alot of stuff sitting in my rroom waiting to be installed.Details( if needed)Car- 1994Toyota Camry Wagon Optimal enclosurerap/hiphop is what I listen to.Sorry for any typing errors as I am on my Droid X. November 30, 201014 yr 2000d ... would only say that you can never have too much power... make sure to be safe with them volumes!!!

November 30, 201014 yr No audible difference at all?...With Psychoacoustics you may (but it is not a true gain)... but to gain 3 dB (a noticeable gain) you will have to double your power.

November 30, 201014 yr I just gotta find one. Lol. Db-r has none right now. Well if you can't find one or a good deal on one then just go with a 1500d. The difference in output between the two will be measurable on a TL but not audible to the ear.

It seems as though you only want Sundown, are you open to other options as well?
November 30, 201014 yr Quite honestly, I would just get the saz-1500dv.2 for 400$ Act quick though, because if i remember correctly the time of arrival was late November to middle December. Plus, buying new you can get a warranty on those amps. Obviously, you can't get warranty on used amps. I have also heard that XCON is still a fantastic woofer with smaller amount of power opposed to giving it it's RMS rating. Still, like you said, 1500 is not far off 1750 at all. More money spent on electrical for the saz-2000d as well.Just my 2 cents.

It seems as though you only want Sundown, are you open to other options as well?Sure larger enclosure volume = decreased power handling and vice versa but as long as the enclosure is within the recommended volume size then running either amp shouldn't be a problem.The difference between the "rated" power (within the recommended enclosure size) and 2000d is 275watts. 275watts isn't going to do much in the scheme of things. (actually setting up the amp correctly will have more affect, ssf, gain.)And lets not forget just because an amp is rated to make xxx wattage at x ohm doesn't mean the driver is likely ever going to see that rated power when playing music... Test tones on short burps, sure. But then again your burping, the enclosure is small as hell, and the driver can take a fair amount more power then "rated" since it's such a short period of time and the VC doesn't heat up as much.Now if the enclosure has some ridiculous volume that's acting as an IB setup then that's a whole different story.

Yes I would because the Xcon will still dominate at that level, I had 3-Kicker CVX's on 700 watts and loved it and was more than enough for people to sit in my car and bail out (I wondered what my SAZ-2000D would of sounded like but it wasnt neccessary). Power is not the main concern, why wouldnt you put an Xcon on 500 watts. Does it matter how much it sees, thats like people thinking I got to give a BTL 3000 watts to perform (c'mon man). It has to do more with Goals, Application and so on. Would you not get an Xcon cause you dont want to get a 2000 watt amplifier or want to upgrade your electrical, I would still get it. Just cause you wont dont rule out what others will do, everyone is not the same or even thinks the same. You buy what you can afford and so on. The whole point is to get all the available information before making suggestion, that is what we are here to do. Just saying I have an Xcon, what amp will I need is not enough.OP please provide more information about your build and what you plan on doing or not doing or what you have already done to the car. November 30, 201014 yr Author Im not only open to sundown. Any other amp brand would be ok. 400$ is my limit. The enclosure will be 7^3ft.
