Posted January 30, 201114 yr Im helping a friend build some fiberglass door panels for his 93 nissan hardbody. I don't like the design or the equipment he's using but it's his truck and im just there to help him get them looking decent. He's doing 4 5.25" dayton mids, 4 audiopipe tweeters, and an autotek 4 ch amp in each door. He picked up all the equipment for just over $300 new. On to the pics...here's some pics of the truck Edited January 30, 201114 yr by BMAN
January 30, 201114 yr Author We layed some resin on the doors to make them keep their shape before we pulled them off
January 30, 201114 yr Author Here's what the layout he came up with looks likeWe added some more support for the rings and then started stretching some fleece over the panelsAnd then on to layin some glassDidn't feel like mixing another batch of resin so thats all we got done tonightAnd of course i had to put this one upmore pics to come let me know what you guys think
January 31, 201114 yr Author I went over there today and he had already finished putting on the first layer and did the second one.He has trouble getting the mat to stay down He wants to paint them but I dont think thats gonna happen
January 31, 201114 yr Looks good but that is going to be some serious bondo and sanding in the future!
January 31, 201114 yr Yea if he wants to paint it, and have the paint look even half way decent he will need to really get that thing smooth, lots of bondo and sanding like said before. But it isnt impossible, will just take some work, or he could always lay some fabric over it, like a nice suede or something.
January 31, 201114 yr Author He's too impatient and lazy for all that work. He thinks he'll be able to fill in the low spots with just resin, but i don't think its gonna work like he's thinking. Either way he's gonna get tired of it and just end up wrapping them.
February 2, 201114 yr nice, these look promising, fair bit of weight in the end to stick to the doorssure does take a lot of work to get them paint worthy, i'm currently working on some door pods and a-pillar pods which i'm going to be painting, so much effort :x
February 5, 201114 yr Sweet ride. I love old school Nissans slammed. This should be moved to the build log section.
February 13, 201114 yr I'm just curious but how well does a lowered car/truck like that do over things like speed bumps? Does it scrape or anything like that? Just something I've always wondered.Like everyone else has said that's going to be a ton of bondo/sanding to do. Good luck on the build. I'm sure it'll turn out great.
March 3, 201114 yr Like to see this when its done trying to do fiberglass in my next build. Give me a little idea
