March 20, 201114 yr Author Well I have finally started on the woodwork side of things today, Got the roof lining down and out, measured up and cut a piece of MDF to suit. Used small metal brackets to tie the Piece to the roof, another run of MDF will go over this (18mm) Also removed the Handle for the sunroof, painted the glass black, and bonded it to the roof, will seal it tomorrow to make it water tight. Also made a start on my doorcards, looking very plain now but open to ideas on what to do to fill the gap on the outside of the card Some pics:More updates soon Edited March 20, 201114 yr by QuinnyGT
March 20, 201114 yr Author Bit of an update, Took collection of my door speakers off Am on Friday, so I went about fitting them. One of the mid range speakers was faulty so sent it back over and should have my replacement one in the coming days Put 4 cans of expanding foam on the roof and some on the rear quarters, have marked out the second skin of the roof now in 18mm MDF, this will be cut and applied tomorrow all going well. Also cut a piece for the floor section which will be the size of the box for the Mayhems, will build it up over the next few days, should have a back wall and side walls up by the next time I update this. But here's pics of how it stands now in all its Ghetto Glory I have set the cross over's using the Imprint processor so the front end is fully active, the """SQL""" out of these speakers is amazing, can get very loud and still stay crystal clear Plus the carbon fibre cones look the dogs danglys More to come soon Edited March 20, 201114 yr by QuinnyGT
March 21, 201114 yr What kind of vehicle is this exactly, I didn't see it posted. Looks as though you are off to a good start. Tuned in!
March 21, 201114 yr Why did you put the tweeters so far from the mids ? You have room to put them close.Nice build ! Good work !
March 21, 201114 yr Author There's a few pics of the car itself, a Toyota Corolla only a baby 1.3litre engine not very common over in the states I'd imagineThe mids sound amazing, will get a small video of them playing tomorrow for you guys And as for spacing of the mids and twwets, I dunno, I always space them like that, and alot of cars this side of the country do the same Anyh ideas on what to do with the doors lads?? I have a big gap in them and wondering what to do to fill them with?? Was thinking 0 gauge door handles and the AA crest painted onto the coor card, I may even put another 2 sets of mids in there in time But thats when I have more money to spend on door speakers lol
March 22, 201114 yr I am digg'n the car, this should pound!I am digg'n the car, this should pound!I think there's an echo in here!Sweet lookin' ride!! Was thinking it might be a Saxo, bring on the build and all the pics!!
March 22, 201114 yr Looks good, really like the front end on the car. Should like the rear a whole lot more here soon
March 22, 201114 yr Author Small updatePut the second sheet on the roof, this time 18mm MDF, also put the back wall in and made a start at the sides, all 36mm, will add another bit to the back wall in time. Also had the time to roughly calculate my internal volume before displacement is in the region of 17cuft, which leaves me with 5-6cuft for subs, 45's port, which should be enough I think Some pics:Still keeping it ghetto for the time being :D More soon
March 22, 201114 yr Looks good. I like the equipment your using! From the Power wire, to the JL RCA's, to the Alpine Processor, all looks top notch.
March 22, 201114 yr Author Cheers man, Bought the JL's a while back now, ran through the car so I'm too lazy to change them The imprint is a great bit of kit once set up right, I spent 3 hours fine tuning but still ain't 100% to my taste yet
March 29, 201114 yr Author not yet buck, still figuring out what to do, A bit of stickerbombing and Graffitti the AA Crest on both doors seems to be my best bet so far
April 27, 201114 yr Author UPDATE TIME Finally started at this again today, did the most awkward part of it today, bringing the side walls up to where it will meet the front baffle, alot of measuring, alot of cutting, alot of re measuring, alot of throwing the measuring tape and calling it all sorts but I have the box alot nearer completion now Should see the inside of the box finished this week, if I can get my hands on resin and hardener Some pics:also got me a new back badge Defo ain't your average E10:Less than 2 weeks before equipment lands Comments and criticism welcome
May 7, 201114 yr Author Another Small Update, Went at sealing up all the joints in the car with P40 Filler, will give this a sanding down and will coat in a layer or 2 of fibreglass as well Just need to measure out my first baffle, and then cut another 2 out of it so my baffle will be 3 X18mm= 54mm thick Also have bracing in the form of 2 M12 threaded bars, not thick enoug but will do for now until I can afford something alot bigger Also squeezed another can of foam into the roof 6days until the gear ladns, its Leaving the UK on Monday :) Some pics:Bought another 2 sheets of 18mm yesterday, so now a total of 5 sheets of 18 and 1 sheet of 12 will be in the car Will have TRD Coilovers in the rear as of tomorrow too so suspension will be 100% as I will be changing arms bushing etc too Have Twin pot brakes too just waiting on Discs and Pads so I can put them on This is coming together at long last More Updates again soon
