I purchased a new pair of 10" RE MT recones and the surround is about a full inch from the surround landing on my 12 spoke baskets. I've only seen RE MT subs built with 12 spokes so my question is are the recones faulty or are there different size 12 spoke baskets? Mine are just black 10" 12 spokes with the correct size spider landing (8.25 I believe)

I e-mailed about this on wednesday and haven't received any response. Just want to know if i need new baskets or if i need to return the recones.

were did you buy the recones from??

If they're off by an inch then it's possible you got 12" recones instead of the 10" recones.

That is exactly what I was thinking. Email Nick and you might be able to get a faster response.

That's why we do not make a BTL 10 and why 10s have horrible cone geometry issues.

That's how the parts work, you have to stretch the surround down to the basket.

WHHHHHHAAAAAAAA thats crazy

The spiders are WAY to still to stretch the surround down meet the basket. And if I stretch it from where it is now it barely makes contact with the frame. Here are a few pics of them on the motor/basket. Also thank you so much for the quick response.

No..you do not move the spiders, you use the gaskets to stretch the surround down to the basket and to center it up.

10's just suck :)..it is what it is.

yea, i think someone was selling surround spacers on CACO.

i was thinking somthing else from your first post.

Damn...trippy.gif

I was gonna say just use a piece of wood and weigh it down, then put the gasket on and spray accelerator under the surround

Was my first and only recone. I didnt think about usring the gasket maybe next time but was easy just put some weight on it and let it rest on the basket. Im with sam was worried about getting it right. Been beating on it since last summer with no problems. It was a 04 reaudio xxx 15 I reconed to a 10 with fi parts
