That box is not bigger then recommended for the Icon 12".

Op what is your budget on a subwoofer and what are your goals with this setup? This should help us give you better answers

You are correct. I misread the rocommended enclosure chart.

It all depends on your enclosure. Will you take some pictures of it and post them here?

Where/Why is the JL 12W6v2 starting to "come apart"?

the foam surround is falling apart

Did it tear or come loose?

Reason I ask is that it's unusual for the higher end JL subs to fail without some type of user error. Trying to eliminate any potential user error issues before you throw something else in there just to shred it as well.

Maybe you can recone the sub to sell it. You will find lot of buyers for a good JL sub like the w6.

With the money, get an Icon or an Xcon from SSA.

Since you like the 12w6 replace it with another one.

You can get another W6 for 350, but if you can better explain your goals you might be able to get similar quality or better for less.

Mr. 1stborn, all of your responses have been very short/little detail. If you can not develop a thought out response/question, than how can we offer an valid assistance?

The icon or xcon drivers would be suitable subs. I assume the box is jl's recommended specs? So it's more than likely tuned low, under 30 hertz.

The w6 is designed to produce a flat response in smaller enclosures. If you use the same enclosure you will get a little peakier response with the icon or xcon but I don't think it would be a bad thing being you are also looking for output as well

refoam it if the surround is coming apart and call it a day. it seems like nothing is gonna beat ur W6 so this is the best case scenario. and way under ur budget
