The 6 inch aero would cover you on port area, but it would be over 20" long to get you tuned to below 35 Hz.

You are better off making a slotted port.

Room I got to use is h x w x d 13" x 29" x 18" looking to get the box tuned to 32hz

Hmm..you have 3.02 cuft to work with, not going to be enough for slot port either.

What's the possibility to use only 2 sub?

  • Author

Yup I'm really trying to use all 3. I guess if I net 1.8 cu ft after port I guess I will be ok with that

Yea I'm starting to give up lol do you know how much is to ship subs?

If you are stuck with them and have to use them, you can try using a passive radiator set up for tuning.

What's that? Never heard of that

Ohh never heard of that before

can you do an external port? as in a pvc port that extends out of the box?

Edited by lithium

i wouldn't waste money on a PR. already lost money buying the skars.

i was looking at pics of your car's trunk. i think you could fit a larger box or are you keeping it small to save space?

i found this. http://www.skaraudio.com/manuals/VVX8.pdf

i need sleep so hope this helps for now.

I still think the enclosure I designed and showed you in our PM's would work great, just put the port cutout on the rear of the enclosure, buy a schedule 20 (I believe) 90 to turn it in the enclosure, and make the overall port length 2.5" shorter to keep the tuning the same. I know I've not answered anything in the PM's since the 11th, but I figured if you were gonna believe me you were going to have to bring it to the rest of the forum. You were DEAD set on the 2.25cuft volume and size of the dimensions at that point. To answer your last questions adding another inch to the depth would still not be enough to utilize a correctly sized slot port and even if it did it would be a tight fit to get the 8's on the top face of the enclosure with the port walls inside. There could also be loading issues due to how close one or two of the subs would be to the internal port opening. On another note it would only add .5" to the depth to get to the full 2.25cuft you were wanting.

Of course if you sell them it's a mute point anyway, but if you decided to keep and use them it should be a fine box.

2.15cuft NET tuned to 32hz with 4" x 12.25" Aero. 28" W x 13" H x 17" D

I have more room but would like to save it in order to be able to carry things around back there. And ok got it thanks sorry for having to sound all stubborn on trying to keep it at 2.25cu ft. Like I said I dnt want it to take up my whole trunk.

Never tried it or even thought about it but wouldn't mind giving that a try if I decide to keep the subs

So how those outer ports with pcv work? I might want to try that and see how the subs work for me before I sell them

in your case the port takes up vital internal volume. so by shifting the port outside the box your increasing internal volume while retaining the tuning. you could put a right angle on the port and extend it up along the side of the box or along the floor down. the side of the trunk.

if you want to see how the sub performs i would extend the dimensions to give the subs the best conditions possible.

Ok thanks Alton helped me design a box but I'm trying to get subs up port back. I'm maxed out on height and width so how much more depth would be needed to make subs up port bak possible with with either Aero port or slot port?
