If you guys want good spring clips, find a Snap-On guy or Matco. I've been using them for years with no issues.

 

Unlike wrench holders for me, they make a multitude of socket holders, ball bearing detent, steel spring clips, rotating, magnetic, etc, etc. 

yeah I used the spring clips but the 3/8" sockets I have are far too heavy to stay secured.

 

 

That's cause the metal spring clips really, really, suck.  I'll take loose over those.  For deep toolbox drawers, the Hansen trays work well, the ones from Menards aren't to bad really, I don't use them much but I like them. 

Yeah I use the ones from Harbor freight, they aren't bad just not able to throw them in my tool bag and go.

Snap on tools are pricey, we have a truck come by and I see something and want it.. then see the price and I'm like fo-get-it. I mainly buy Chraftsman tools just because of the great warranty.. and especially if your snap on truck driver knows you break stuff a lot and decided to stop coming around, lol.

The clips are not expensive.

The tools are and damn worth it for people who make their living with them. Crapsman has it's place, but I guarantee if you did what I do everyday, you would pay the money for the better tools.

Agreed, I have some Snapon crimpers but that's about it. I really like the Craftsman hand tools/boxes but thats about it.

That is probably the easiest dash removal of a high end car, most are ridiculously difficult.

I figured I need to make some quick release bullshit on a slide or something. That seems reasonable enough. Think I can get away without even doing any fiberglass work even

Volunteer? There's a few internships I've been looking at over summers, and for a PhD it looks like I could find funding from TA, research, fellowship, but for my BS or masters route I figured it was pretty much all coming out of pocket. Then again I don't know that much about the financials of college.

 ya thats pretty much correct, i haven't heard of anyone getting a masters for free but phd's in the sciences are (and if it isn't, don't go there).  i'll be applying for schools this fall/winter

My cousin got her Masters for nothing, and is doing the same for her Phd. She got her Bachelors at the U of A and then got into a job in admissions. She pays some crazy amount like $20 per credit hour, and she just received 10k from some sort of grant that she doesn't need to pay back.

 Rare for the masters degree to be free. your cousin must be pretty fucking smart. Typically a phd student receives free tuition and a stipends of roughly 20k a year.  maybe less for a TA or more for a RA. then you have the grants and other shit.  My friend's gf did her masters in Industrial Engineering at PSU  but had to pay full tuition. I think she tutored for a little more than minimum wage. However, she got a job before graduating and now makes some pretty serious bank.

Getting a Masters is somewhat irrelevant, either go all the way or don't bother.

Was perfect for me. Allowed me to wait out the bad times. (I made enough with my RA to pay tuition and live). I got a taste of the acedemic world, but wasn't a fan of the university part of it. Also gave me a leg up on my job.

 

I'm not sure where I fall on the academic vs industry side of things yet. I do have some undergraduate research experience and my paper should be ready to submit soon. wish i would have done an internship while I was still an undergrad and then I might have a better sense of which direction to go.

Well there is an issue with that, I've seen a few ipad installs most tablets will not turn on until they are cooled off from the heat of the car baking in the sun. Not sure if the Minnesota summers are that hot, but it could be an issue.

I've seen people cut holes in vents behind the dash to route some air behind it so whenever they remote start their car the AC will cool it down so it can turn on.

A cover over the tablet would work well, but I don't know if it's even needed being in MN.

 

If I leave my ipad on the dash over summer it'll lock up with the temp warning for ten minutes or so, but if I throw a tshirt over it, or stuff it under the seat than it's fine.

Check craigslist for Snap-On, Armstrong, Wright, Williams, etc, they are all on the same level of tools.  I don't think I've ever bought off the Snap-On truck, just buy them off my local Craigslist.

Hey ford folks...

 

My '94 5.0L truck has a hard time starting after sitting in the sun.  Cranks, takes 5-7 seconds to start, but once running you can shut it off and it starts instantly, same way in the mornings.  It only has hard starts after sitting out in the sun/heat.  Fuel pressure regulator seems good, haven't checked fuel pressure yet though.
