What I really need to learn is flash. I don't find myself in asituation where I want one often...... But when I do, not knowing how to set it up quickly really sucks.

My pictures with flash SUCK compared to those without. All the more reason I lean on fast glass.

Pretty sure you need 2 flashes to get it to work worth a shit.

Flash is for light control and fill.

Just take it off the camera. 2 flashes is cool but I do just as well with one and the light in the room/outside.

I also use it to blow out the background or bring up the foreground.

It's great for causing separation in a photo. Just bounce it, or if possible take it off the body camera.

That 18-35 is fuggin sweeeeeeeeeet IMHO.

1.8 and a great focal length for most situations.

Neal, this would be the lens I would be looking at if I was going to use a crop sensor.

My only fear is that 3rd party brands don't have the backing of the lens shots on you.

It is offered for my A mount body with one great review. SOmething to look at in the future.

That part I am okay with, difficulty is when the light is too low for a person shot and you need more.  Then I get glow face and dark background thus the reason for the second.

8 and out tonight! 7p-3a sure hope it goes fast becasue I am in vacation mode!!

If he was white I wouldn't believe it.

35mm is REALLY short to have for a long end

I agree, and while I would not have said "just crop it to add zoom" back in the day, with a really great lens like that and the high megapixels of the Sony, I think that lens offers the absolute best value in the crop world.

It's a wide angle and a 50mm that is blindingly fast.

F1.8!

In Des Moines tonight, any suggestions? Looking for something "healthy" lol, as in veggies will be part of the meal in some way.

Try google

I set it up in my store with our near life size cut outs. It helped me to figure out what to do. They are shiny coated, so it helps me to be more careful than I need to.

It took me more than an hour to get it right.... When winter hits and there is no sun in the store in the evening I will practise more. The new location is open to 100% evening sun, so it is worthless to practice here now. A model would help with shadows, but handling highlights has always been worse for me. The simple answer of course is an umbrella.

On the T4i, it's so easy. The on camera flash is 100% just fill. The off camera nissin is the light bazooka. 2-3 min after a couple test shots. If I got a second flash for the 6D, then it would be done.

You guys are going to make want to learn how to use a camera correctly.

I will post what I'm working with in a few. I am sure you guys can give me some advice.

Note I didn't say pointers or tips. I know how you sick MFer's think.
