Everyone I know with a new diesel pickup spends ~5k every other year on maintenance.  With the reliability and power of modern gas engines, you can't get me to drive a diesel that costs that much.  One of the other shops over here has a '04? F-350 that just dropped 8k+ at the shop for getting it worked on the last two months and had to have it towed 3 times.  I know of couple more people with newer ones that drop serious coin on it on fuel injectors, controllers, glow plugs, etc, etc.

My BIL hasn't spent that on his Ford in the 7 years and 150k miles he's driven it. Not even close.

I can introduce him to many people around here who have.  smile.png

Interesting, I can introduce you to tons that haven't. Pretty much his whole "neighborhood".

His truck leads a hard life too. He doesn't ever drive it anywhere unless there is a cattle trailer or the like behind it.

Got an 06 duramax that does nothing but haul a 35 foot goose neck loaded with a 17k pound tractor with impliments. Has about 200k miles on it. Have do e nothing but change fluids and the fuel filter once at 100k. Never had a lick of trouble out of it. And averages 16 miles to gallon loaded down.

I've learned over the past few months that most people really don't enjoy music like I do and all of you over here. they don't get the tingle behind their neck when the bass drum starts, there hair doesn't stick on end when the guitar comes in. I know I'm home here

Just think what will happen when you finally start listening to good music with real quality. *shivers*

I know. I really want to come up to the cities and listen to your setup. I've never had the chance to listen to a properly tuned sq oriented system.

well, my clutch, shifter, motor and trans mount write-up isn't going to happen. I cracked the oil pan in my gto and said screw it. I had the shop come get the car and fix it. sucks because the money I had to pay the shop was the money I was going to use on the system for it. shops suck, they aren't cheep!

My 2013 Ram 5.7 Hemi feels like a DOG compared to my old F250. Pulls a trailer great, Is super nice inside. I love it but the Ford would walk all over this Hemi

Got called in the middle of the night for an animal rescue. Usually I only take in snakes and monitors, but whatever. I've got the shop available to me, might as well make a vivarium coffee table and enjoy the show.

Indeed. The 6L is a horrible engine

How'd you crack the oilpan?

Based on the motor mount write up, I bet he jacked it up by the oil pan...

Bad ass scorpion.

He's way under size and weight. He was in a glass tank, stuffed in a closet. He hadn't eaten in over a month. Poor thing looked like a cracker when we got him. Dropped him a shot of crickets and he nailed about 6 of them. Considering he's the size of a zippo lighter, he definitely stuffed himself. Now he seems content rearranging the tank all night. Kind of wasting his time though cause he's a desert scorpion and should be in sand. As soon as I fab up his new tank, he'll have a little post-apocalyptic wasteland to wander.

Another interview today. Did some 'power posing' before I left the house, and it went great. I have a follow up interview Tuesday, should. Hear something from Lowes today, and a DOD interview for a 3-6 month contract Thursday. Going to apply for a janitor (basically maintenance tech actually) at a nursing home tonight.

Really hoping for the DOD contract because while it is shorter term, it pays the best of the options at the moment, looks great on the resume, and has potential to lead to other options.

I mean the pay breaks down like this

Lowes- 10 an hr and decent drive time but SHITTY drive

DirectTV- 10-16 an hr (negotiated next interview) and commission with a boring commute but its sales at various places such as Sams Club, Best Buy, etc.

DOD- 18 an hr decent drive and not a bad commute unless the weather is shit as I have to drive across the bay, still working with the Military, and uses my security clearance to my advantage.

Janitor- 12 an hr not a bad drive and my brother works for the same company but in a different capacity.

3/4 have room to move up, and the 1/4 left over has opportunity for other jobs that should pay as well if not better.

IMO the DOD job is the one to take if offered. I am still having a hard time being away from the Military (as much as I hated it at times), and this could help me stay with people of a similar mindset.

Keep the pictures coming man. While I would never own an insect or reptile, and am not really a fan of holding them, they still fascinate me, and are cool to see.

I'll start a Build Log in Off Topic when I start building his new tank and snag as many pictures of him as I can. He's a little bastard. If he was an Emperor I'd pick him up, but all desert scorpions are bungholes so I pretty much leave him be. According to a local he's one of three breeds. I'm waiting for some experienced people on a ScorpionForum to identify it. He could be:

Giant Desert Hairy Scorpion - Easy care, somewhat agressive, but an ok beginner scorpion.

Arizona Bark Scorpion - Poisonous as all hell, might have to be re-homed.

Deathstalker - Somewhat poisonous, mean as hell, but very interesting.

Hairy would be the best option, but I secretly hope he's a Deathstalker LOL, don't tell the wife.

I wasn't too keen on my son's tarantula at first, but it's actually a very beautiful creature. He's still a bit skiddish though and does not like being handled.

ABS is one I have seen before, and I doubt it is. They usually don't have that darker body color.

Room mate is home sleeping on the couch.

One appendix lighter. Surgeon said it was about to pop and roommate was lucky. Poor fucker. He gangstered up. I would probably have been in tears.

Same shit happened to my cousin last time I was visiting. Glad they caught it in time.

Me too Stefan. It also makes me worry about my stomach pain more and more. On the days when I was doubled up in pain, and like a dummy I touched it out, what if mine had been something similar.....

Freaky.

Everyone here is super happy it was a really boring ER trip.
