Posted February 22, 201411 yr Well, I'm sure most of you saw the box I built for local customer Bobby for 2 Evil 18's in a suburban. Well, tax time came around and guess what, he bought 2 more Evil 18's! I wanted to keep the box from being massively tall, but I was able to manage 20 cubes net! I just started today, but I might get it assembled (or at least half assembled) by this evening. Anyway, onto the pictures... Specs: 20 cubes net14" Octaport32 hzBadass window bracing Letting the Octaport dry, while I cut out the bracing.
February 22, 201411 yr Author He has a Mechman 275 and Singer 350 ran with a VCM, and 4 XS Power XP3000's. Picture of the main brace uploading...
February 22, 201411 yr Admin I think you'll like this box brace Mark... That looks sick! Hope where the "S" meets the brace, that doesn't get disconnected from vibration. Looks great though.
February 22, 201411 yr Author It's about 1" thick right there (just looks like less because I stopped the roundover at that point). But, I will be resining the entire brace once the box is put together. I plan on leaving the inside of the box bare, but painting the "SSA" logo red when the box is all done.
February 22, 201411 yr That's fucking amazing, can't wait to see the finished product! And holy port!
February 23, 201411 yr Author Popular Post Got the box 100% assembled, and remembered that I broke my last 1/8" drill bit on the last box I built, so mounting holes will be cut tomorrow, along with sanding, rounding over, and bedlining the whole box. Can't wait to hear this thing! Edited February 23, 201411 yr by Miles
February 23, 201411 yr Author Me either. Hopefully the 3 Evils come in in the next week or so (he bought 2 new, and had one sent in for a recone). Also, we've been talking about changing amps...(2) CT Sounds 7k, (2) Ampere 7.5k, or just find a used SD16k.
February 23, 201411 yr I think you'll like this box brace Mark... That is quite Impressive work, Looking forward to seeing the box when its done! I would definitely keep the sundown ns1s though, Better quality than those others.
February 23, 201411 yr Author If you think my sub boxes are impressive, you should see the furniture I've built.
February 23, 201411 yr If you think my sub boxes are impressive, you should see the furniture I've built. I'm sure its quite nice! Patience and attention to detail is what it takes, and unfortunately I'm lacking in the patience myself. Whats the plan for covering the box? Paint, carpet, Vinyl?
February 23, 201411 yr Author Yes, patience does play a key role in advanced woodworking, especially when you don't have CNC machines to do it for you. I'll be spraying it with dupli-color bedliner (best feeling/looking bedliner for a good price), and I'll be painting the port red, painting the SSA logo red and leaving the rest of the inside of the box bare so when the customer adds LED's it'll shine nicely.
February 23, 201411 yr Author 100% assembled and ready for bedliner! Box came out awesome. Now I REALLY cant wait to hear this beast. It's sad that the 14" Octaport looks small on this box...
February 23, 201411 yr Haha it looks like a box for four 12's because of the proportions Nice. Fucking. Work. That's awesome
February 23, 201411 yr Author Bed liner is drying as I'm typing this and about ready to head out and paint the port and paint the SSA logo red. Will be posting a picture as soon as those are done.
