* There she is. This proto is totally chrome... production models will have the chromed basket but will have a black anodized top plate and back plate to match the black / silver / black color scheme of the SAX and SAZ amplifiers.

* Big fat tinsels with "tie down" routing to prevent slap.

Nightshade_vs_TC9.jpg

* Nightshade vs. a TC9 based sample I am also working with on an unrelated project. The TC9 weighs around 35 pounds for reference.

I hooked it up for the first time last night and knocked the rear view mirror off in my Civic using an SAE-1000D for power and a roughtly 4.4 ft^3 box tuned to 35 Hz (6 x 6" port).

Hmmmsss... more shots of it from all angles?

Sweets.

I need to take it back out of the car, I just had to test it!

Looking good.

Looks good!! Any better idea as to when they will be released?

Unfortunatly not. I'm pretty swamped getting the SAZ-3000D out at this time. It's near the top of the list after the SAZ-3000D and an as yet unannounced lower line subwoofer project. Rest assured, though, that I am working as hard as I can!

that thing looks beast!

i know youve dealt with alot of subs, anything you can compare it to??

I would compare it most closely to an FI Audio BTL from what I have experience with so far. This is pending further power testing to make sure it can handle similar power levels, which is the goal. If the proto fails to hold up as well as the BTL it will be re-designed... the intent of the Nightshade is to be a top tier SPL woofer that is at least listenable :)

Sounds great, I look forward to seeing how it does with quad 1500Ds beatin on it. Lookin good!

One more note... this proto is only about 60% "done" so to speak. The final version is already planned to have a few changes to the coil, cone, and soft parts to allow for more abuse / power handling.

So, when is that gonna end up being tested at my house? I have the power, I have the facility, you have directions.

Sean,

As soon as I can! I only have ONE prototype so we'll have to block off something on your wall. This coming weekend I am getting up with Chad and Loyd... eventually the sub will go to Richard for some daily abuse (if I, or we don't tear it up), but I'll be sure to make my way to your place for some measurements before then.

looks like a sub :)

Sure does... funny thing is I was trying to make a tweeter... *laughs* JK

Jacob I'm not sure if this has been asked anywhere, but do you plan to offer recones for this beast when it comes around?

Yessir. I will most likely have re-cones available, if not immediatly at release, I'll get some made.

She has a nice ass.. I hope the front is worthy of Sundown too. :D I like the big inverted caps like RE ;) I'm sure a boob would be alright too.
