any suggestions on the tunnig of the box? im debating if i should tunned to 28hz or 32hz? what would you guys say?

What is your name and Ill send you out some. You should get a sticker with every box. If one of my guys isnt putting them in, Ill have to have a little talk with them.

28 hz really drops low and depending on the overall enclsoure size is a bottom end monster. 32-33 is a good standard all around tuning that gives you a little bump in the 35-55 range and seems to be what many people like. I prefer sealed or lower tuned enclosures :)

Thanks...

Scott

sealed enclosures ftw

Indeed :)

Sub enclosures tuned over 33Hz'ish sounds too rolled-off and artificial to my ears, YMMV.

Ignacio, you know the one that the street name is also in spanish ;)

well is just a mistake so no prob,

well i like low better tan loudness so i may go to 28 or 30 then thanks for the input.

well if i tune it to 28 will i still feal the bass on my body, the box is a 2.32 after dispasment

go with the higher tuning, you'll be happier. Do 33hz and then report back to us and let us know if it isn't accurate enough for you

i prefer sealed and will probably never run anything but sealed in the future. But thats what i like, for what he wants, it just doesn't fit the bill IMO

I've got mine tuned to 33 hz and the SQ is really good. It seemed to quicken up a bit in a sealed box. But the tonality in either alignment is great.

Keep in mind that I only had it in a sealed box for 3 hours.

What type of music do you listen to? I'd say tuning around 32 would be good all around. I like it, and yes it should still shake :)

im doing the finishing touches on the box, and i have a couple of questions, shoul i use 2 sheets of 3/4 MDF? should i use 1 or 2 ports?

Do you mean to double up the enclosure walls? Usually not for a Q12...

As far as ports, I normally do 1 slot port for them, although aeroports a single 4" is pushing things and it might be a tough call to stick a pair of them in the box depending on the dims and space you have.

Thanks,

Scott

well im going to do 1 4" port 8.8" of lenght, and if i have port noice i would build another box... lol

BTW, i juat got my amp, is a kicker zx1000.1 that is rated at 1105 watts rms :)

Rule of thumb from my past experience is "a single 4" port always = port noise". Might be different for others, but the Q's can move some air, so I predict huffing.

I'm pretty tight on space so I went with a 24 sq in slot port and I have noise. From my experience, I would say that you need to be closer to 32 sq in for a 2.0 cu ft box for a Q12.
