April 17, 200718 yr are you trying to say i'm dumb? I never see you type anything about school. It's always car, audio, or work related. Oh, or pussy related.
April 17, 200718 yr heh, car, audio and pussy are about the only things i enjoy enough to talk about, work i just bitch about
April 17, 200718 yr i be fine too, almost all my classes are surrounding norris. I can only imagine the phone calls kids have been getting.I thought it was you that went there. I knew it was jim and someone else. I just kept thinking through the day, man I hope jim and the other guy that goes to VT is all right. Glad to here you're safe...both of you.
April 17, 200718 yr pretty crazy chitNo kidding.Glad that the boys on here are OK.It's tough to imagine an institution like that under fire (especially in a dorm) ... but I guess it can happen pretty much anywhere these days.
April 17, 200718 yr Author Admin Do any of you guys know someone that was shot?Side note/rant: I wonder if this will get the same type of up roar that the IMUS ordeal had. Nothing against VA, but VA as a state is one of the easiest to get a gun with limited to no wait time. The real test and real issue is that after the dust settles, and the people who were shot down are laid to rest, will there be anything done about gun control? Yes, I know there are some guys on here from VA, and I know some people on here are hunters, but to me it seems the right to bear arms is a much more sensitive subject than freedom of speech. I am not trying to start a debate, but this is something seriously wrong with the US and I wish I could do something about it. (I do write almost daily emails to my local officials about endangered animals through the Defenders of Wildlife, but not sure what I could do about this problem). But it will show where real priorities lie, are people going to just sit there and point fingers at anyone they can find and say "its not my fault" and try to hang someone, prime example the hurricane that tore up Louisiana and Mississippi, or is someone going to start making forward progress about gun control and how to better protect and warn our kids who are at college? That is the real question. Not who's fault it is and who we can beat down through the media and such, but what are we going to change and make better from this, if not we learned NOTHING from this horrible event. The sad thing is that people like Al Sharpton are not going to come out and make a big media deal about these poor defenseless students and professors were shot. He can't line his pockets or point the finger at someone, since that someone is dead by his own hand. This will be a true test. Sorry for the rant but I think hey some of my good friends could have been killed, I am glad they are ok, but what is going to be done to keep them safe?
April 17, 200718 yr I suppose I'm a redneck through and through but i don't blame stuff like this on guns. Especially on a campus like this, if people want to kill people they can do it. The gun makes it easier but if he didn't have a gun to resort to I'm almost willing to guarantee he would have blown a building up. Mainly because we've had two bomb threats within the past week and a half. Though it's easy to see we're two opposite sides of the spectrum, I'm not giving up my gun and I've even been hurt by it. People love to place so much blame on the guns but the problem here wasn't a gun, there was chit wrong with the kid that should have been dealt with. School and family could have been pushing him too far, which is still my guess. The gun was just his outlet, if he was pushed far enough to use a gun he was definately pushed far enough to stab people, to blow up a building or to break into our bio lab and find chit that could wipe out half the campus.
April 17, 200718 yr i remember there was a similar incident, only the shooters were two students but i don't know when and where in the us it happened.EDIT : i think it was Columbine high.
April 17, 200718 yr Author Admin I am not blaming anything on the gun, I am trying to address the issue of control of them. If this guy was pushed this far but did not have a gun, unless he was trained for bomb making and had the resources to get the materials, chances are not this many people would have died and so many more injured.
April 17, 200718 yr not much training is required for a good ole fashioned pipe bomb, even some of the more "complex" explosives are easier than you'd ever imagine to make. And being that he's here at tech we have to assume he's intelligent enough to know how(or to learn how). Hell we actually studied some of it in my engineering chem class. Apparently he had illegal guns anyway as the serial #s were all filed off.
April 17, 200718 yr Author Admin Do you guys think this will just be brushed under the carpet and overlooked as a tragedy and nothing more, or do you think they are going to do something about it?
April 17, 200718 yr it will be interesting to see but i bet after they make themselves look good, they'll forget about it
April 17, 200718 yr More "gun control" will do absolutely nothing. Criminals and terrorists don't go through legal channels to but/aquire their firearms. All that more gun laws will do is make it harder for law abiding citizens to acquire them for personal protection/recreation. If the person was not able to aquire a gun, I'll bet money he could have built a bomb for cheap and killed/injured even more people. I have not looked but I'll guarantee that the information is on the internet or in the local public library. What will come out of this incident is some useless legislation most likely. The people to blame in my opinion are the persons parents for raising him without apparently any moral standards. My. 02$/rant
April 17, 200718 yr Author Admin A guy at my work said his friends brother was the room mate of the guy. Said the guy never said a word to anyone.

I just feel there is a difference between criminals and suicidal maniacs.
April 17, 200718 yr Nothing you can do to keep either one from getting their hands on a weapon period. If they are cracked enough in the head they are going to do whatever their minds are set to do.
April 17, 200718 yr Author Admin Found something that more then pissed me off...http://www.godhatesamerica.com/
April 18, 200718 yr Nothing will come of this other than grieving. The fact of the matter is, people in America just love to complain and overanalyze everything. We bitch and complain and that is the extent of it. Nothing ever really gets done. The government doesn't give a shit about the people. I can guarantee you, the only way this tragedy would change anything is if some politician's relative or close acquaintance was involved. The politicians are only about their own cause, power, and money. Aside from that, they don't give a shit. They don't care about rising gas prices, they don't care about healthcare costs, etc. . . They all own a part in these big businesses or have enough money to not have to worry about it. It's just bullshit. There is no more "for the people, by the people." The movie V for Vendetta is a perfect example of American political miscues and IMO, the people should take back their country. Unfortunately, most Americans are nothing more than puppets anymore. I'm just waiting for someone to bring up the issue of race. It always comes about.
April 18, 200718 yr Nothing you can do to keep either one from getting their hands on a weapon period. If they are cracked enough in the head they are going to do whatever their minds are set to do.Exactly; however, we could change the penalties for gun crimes. Gun control isn't the problem but our lackadaisical treatment of the use of guns illegally is. Just think if any crime committed with a gun had a penalty of a 5 yr torture to death, if this was the case I severely doubt that we would have as many gun crimes. I am not promoting torture, but wanted to be extreme in my example. We don't have to take it that far, but obviously need to take it further than we do.
April 18, 200718 yr Sean, I agree with the torture bit to an extent. There is a difference between armed robery, and things like that and a shootout. Where someone has an illegal handgun and brandishes it on someone with a legal one. If the gun is legal and the shooting is justified then so be it. If not then yes torture. And Aaron, I cannot get to the site.......what all did it say there?J
