Posted July 13, 200718 yr I finally got around to a dry-run of my comps and amps last night. I must admit, the JBL P650c's sound every bit as good as I'd hoped. The Sundown 100.4 really makes them shine. But I've been thinking, isn't it a waste of the 100.4 to just drive the two front pairs? They run at 4 ohm, and I end up only using the first two channels of the amp. I also purchased a 100.2 to drive my RL-i8 DVC4, but I wonder if it wouldn't make more sense to swap amps and have the 100.2 driving the front stage and move the 100.4 to the sub? This would also fit much better (physically) into my vehicle, as the 100.4 peeks out from behind the driver's seat. Can anyone suggest the best scenario for utilizing these amps?Thanks,-J.
July 13, 200718 yr Admin As I am sure someone will mention it, why not run your components active off the 100.4? It has good crossovers and you could dial in the front stage better, instead of being restricted to the crossover settings of the one that came with them. And you could individually control the gain to the tweeters and mids. The other option (only since you mentioned you would possibly get a second RL-i8) would be odd since they are only available in dvc 4 ohm right now. Meaning I don't think the 100.4 is warrantied to be run at 2x 2ohm mono, but it might work, that is a Jacob call.
July 13, 200718 yr I tested the 100.4 at 2 ohms bridged on an SI BM sub... lasted about 4 months then blew the power supply. The BM is an "easy" 2 ohm load as well. So no, I don't suggest or warranty it.

Regardless, I'll give that a try tonight. Dumb question: do I need to split the RCA going into channel 1 into channels 1 and 2? How else to get the same signal for channel 1 out to both tweet and mid? I don't see a switch for that on the amp.P.S. Can you put up a link for the 100.4 manual on SSA's site?
July 13, 200718 yr Author P.S. Can you put up a link for the 100.4 manual on SSA's site?Disregard, I found it on SA's product page.
July 16, 200718 yr Author To conclude, I went active with the SAX-100.4 on the front stage and bridged the SAX-100.2 on the RL-i8 DVC4 at 8 ohms. Everything sounds incredible! Thanks for making these fantastic amps!
