  1. Sorry to thread jack, but If I was to purchase some used SMD v1s, would I be able to buy a re-cone for them or are those done too? Also what's up with the V2s?

    FI Sp4 On Fire.. Warranty?

This thread is a goddamn shame! I really hope this motivates guys to invest in a fire extinguisher. I would really be heartbroken to hear of someone's car going up in flames (and that goes for any setup really).

    FI Sp4 On Fire.. Warranty?

Is this the same logic you used for the first part of your statement? I'd be willing to accept the argument of severe over-driving (to one side of the suspension) if the OP was running an NS1 or a Brazilian smoke machine. Granted I don't know for a fact that the OP wasn't running a bigger amp, but assuming he was running a Sundown 3k on a 3k rated woofer, shouldn't Severe over-driving of the suspension be the least of his worries?

    FI Sp4 On Fire.. Warranty?

I'm still trying to understand how the OP overpowering/clipping the sub only smoked the spider/tinsel lead, but oh well. The sad part is I'm still dying to run these subs.

    Um... a 750wrms 8"?

I thought the same thing, but my SA 8s have blown my mind and that's coming from a 21" Warden(though I still have it and is by far my favorite setup). As soon as I heard 2, I went and bought 4 more lol. And I run much less power now

    Front Projector H/T setups

Nice. I plan on running a projector when I move in to my new house. I'm not going to be on that level yet though; going to be running the Sony HW-50 on a 120" screen.
  7. I never used their amps, but there wires and accessories are legit. some of the nicest RCAs and wire I've used.

    Sa 8v2 break in difference?

Yea, thats what I plan on doing.

    Sa 8v2 break in difference?

I'm running 6 Sa 8 v2s on 2 1500s in a 6th order in my Tahoe. They sound ok on the low end(28-38hz), but they sound like they have so much more to give. I'm debating switching up enclosures, but I wanted to get the opinions of people who have run them. Is it worth it to give the subs more time to break in before I switch boxes? I'm also considering adding another 1500. I've only had the subs for a couple of weeks. I only have a chance to get on them driving to work and around town.

    Sa 8v2 break in difference?

The tuning is 28hz in the rear/60hz in the front.

    Sa 8v2 break in difference?

I didn't do the design, surreal from **** did it. I just didn't remember the tuning. I'm waiting for my ported design now.

    Sa 8v2 break in difference?

So you chose six 8's lol... I would've done less, but I wanted to over-compensate. The box also allows for me to throw stuff on top and in front of it, which is something I absolutely could not do with the Warden. I don't remember exactly the tuning, I'll have to look at my design notes again. It is essentially a 1:1 ratio 6th order, with each inner chamber 2.25 cubes and the outer chamber 4.5 cubes.

    Sa 8v2 break in difference?

Well I wanted to get back some of my cargo space from my 21" warden that was back there.
  14. So, Saturday, I was installing my subs and amp and among a myriad of problems, My most glaring problem to troubleshoot is a sub thump (more like: thump thump, thump thump, thump thump) and my amp going in to protect. The problem is, this happens long after everything is turned off. As a matter of fact, I went in to Jack in the box, ate, came back out 20 min later just in time to hear it. My setup is - 6 SA 8's D4's - 2 1500's - 300 amp alt, 1 CnD 100ah, 2 XP 3000s When I initially wired the setup, I paralleled them (2 sides of 3) for a final resistance of .67 per side and ran both amps strapped (I initially thought I was at 1.67 per side). Since I was worn out from getting everything in, in the first place, I did a half ass job at troubleshooting, but this is where I'm at: - Voltage at the amp was 15.1/13 volts with the car on/off. - Resistance at the speaker terminals was .6 (wound up @ .3 when I strapped the amps) - After I encountered the sub thump with the amps strapped, I switched everything to one amp and had the same problem. - Resistance at the sub terminal was 20 ohms(wtf?), but it was .6 at the end of the speaker leads. It was also .6 at the amp. - Grounds were good. Amps are hooked directly to the back batteries. Back batts are hooked to the front, big 3 done. What I plan to do - Since I'm going to gain match the amps now, I had 2 grab another rca set, so I went ahead and grabbed 2 so I can switch out both sets. I'm hoping I just have a bad RCA set. Also everything was brand new from Sundown, just got it earlier that day. Any other ideas where I should look?

    Troubleshooting ideas for sub pop.

So to update the situation, I got my new RCAs in (by the way, I'm very impressed with these NVX wires from sonic). I also got in my new spdt relay. While swapping those out, I did notice that the fit of the older RCAs was alittle lose plugging into the sig pro. After that, I double checked my connections and let her rip. Everything seems to be working fine now although I find it hard to believe it was the rca connection causing the thump since there was never anything that could agitate it (360 is under one of the back seats, no one was near the truck when it happened). Oh well, if it comes up again, i'll update.

    Troubleshooting ideas for sub pop.

I'm using low level inputs. The doors were open the first time it bumped and closed the 2nd.

    Troubleshooting ideas for sub pop.

Signal from the HU goes through my RF 360.2 to my amps. Car and HU were off and the 360 was off when the thump occurred.

    Troubleshooting ideas for sub pop.

Oh yea, I guess I left out an important factor. My relay went bad, so I had to switch my remote wire from 12v switched to 12v constant. I would unplug the remote when I got out the car (I forgot to when I ate). I'm changing the relay with the RCA's.

4 ssa 12" zcons and 2 crescendo bc5500d box build

The 2 5500s idea is a little far fetched, but I'm a little confused at the idea that he doesn't have the space to pull off those subs. I don't know if the OP really measured his trunk or not, but those caprices have more trunk space than most mid-sized SUVs have cargo space. Theres a PROBLEM if you can't get them to fit!

    Crossover Placement

I'm not trying to push you either way, but you can still do what you want to do and subtract non-needed parts from your system (High pass your tweeters/low pass your woofer via the amp). Good luck w/ the build.

    Crossover Placement

I don't know what speakers you are running or how many, but if you are running a leviathan, why run passive crossovers at all?

    Warden 21 box design

What type of response are you looking for from it? I had a 4th order BP designed for mine where the response is flat from 25-50hz and I've never been happier with a setup. Its a big ass box though lol.
  25. Sup, My sunroof is clapping pretty bad with my current setup and I'm planning on doubling it, so I wanted to know if anyone has been relatively successful controlling sunroof clap. I only have problems when giving demos and competing, since I don't bump it (full tilt) on the daily. I use my sunroof, so I have no plans to glue it shut or permantly disable it.
