    2 18 Zcon wall help

Hello all, I have been away from the forums for some time since graduating college and started working again. Now that I have some money to finally move away from these seemingly low powered setups (6 systems since 2012), I am looking for help with my wall build. I am going to be building the base to the wall in my 2016 Ford Focus sedan in a week or two, and there is a lot of room to work with (over 30 cubes). I will be running 2 18" ZCONs on (undecided) either a 5.5k or 6.5k amp with supporting electrical (batt bank, lots of OFC wire, and HO alt). This is my daily, and I just want a ground pounder with no care to what numbers it'll put up in the lanes. I would like to demo a lot. I'm thinking 8 cubes per sub (16 cubes net) tuned to 32 Hz is a good place to start (recommended by SSA). I'm thinking either a center slot port, or a top port. ** I listen to ALL kinds of music, Decaf/DJSNT, rap, hip hop, metal, rock, 80s/90s pop, jazz, country, movie scores, blues, dubstep/electronic, classic rock, oldies, etc, etc..** Now... my questions are: How much port area do y'all recommend? Is 8 cubes of net volume per sub a good amount? Should I be alright running an underrated 5500 watt amp, or go with the 6500? What port orientation shall I go with? If I think of more questions, I will be sure to post them. P.S. Sorry if I am asking some questions that are common knowledge among these builds, but this is my first "loud" and "high powered" setup. My two loudest systems thus far have been a single Obsidian Audio 15 on about 900 watts, and 2 Sundown Ev3-12's on 1300 watts. Thank you for your time and patients everyone! Cheers.

  4. Ok, so I've never put a build log on here so please bear with me if I mess this up. This started as me wanting to get louder and ended up like nothing I could have imagined. Its a 2006 Chevy Silverado EXT cab 71 pickup with the 5.3L. Equipment installed is: 2 Singer 350A Alternators (stock running as master) MLA Module American Bass 1100.1 5 C&D Batts 1 XS Power up front 2 sets Boston Pro 60SE Components (Running as coaxial) Boston 2 channel 6 SSA Zcon 15s (4th order enclosure) Some tire/suspension mods to hide the almost 2000lbs of equipment. First the walkaround now into the build pics: (I didnt take very many) ^^^^Crossovers in place of factory bose amp ^^^^Light Test of Million color LEDs ^^^More Color Test ^^Starting to work on the back ^^^Ready for fuses ^^Underhood complete ^^^ Port into cab done.. It needs tuned yet but it hit 154.2 sealed on the TL at 46hz (too high for my blood, gonna put in a loading wall and drop it down. Shooting for 35-40hz peak) More to come!!
  5. Chops 86' Cutlass from Team IAK 4 15" SSA Zcons 4 Crescendo 3500's DOING WORK !!! Be sure to sub for future Videos!! Flexing.... Just a little Shredding a PhoneBook
  6. So I was coming home from work yesterday and I was bumping at a decent volume. I started to smell something burning, but it wasn't coil. I took a reading of the coils from the amp today and wasn't getting the correct nominal. Took the sub out and read the coils from terminals. One coil wasn't reading out at all, and the other was reading like 12. Took the coil out and this is what I found: Recone was done in November or so. This sucks.. =[

Bass Heads Ent S10 Xtreme Build

Robin Butler and Chris Chapman of Bass Heads Ent did an amazing job on my 2 12" PSI Platform 1 Chevy S10 Xtreme build. I could not be any happier, still have to retune and what not, but moves the windshield a bit, still figuring out what music I like to play. Subs: 2 12" PSI Platform 1 Dual 4s- Sub Amplifier: Crescendo Audio BC2000D @ 1 ohm- I am using a PAC LC1 and love it. Head unit: Pioneer Premier DEH-P510UB Mids: 8 Krome Audio KA65s Pro Audios (by Addictive Audio)- Tweeters: 4 Krome Supertweeters- Mids/Highs Amplifier(s): Rockford Fosgate 500.2 & 500.4- Electrical: 50 feet of Audio Technix 1/0 OFC. Optima Red Top under the hood, 2 C&D 138.4 amp hour batteries. 270 amp high-output alternator by Tenney Alts powder-coated black. Stinger voltage meter in dash cluster- Enclosure: amp rack, wiring done by bassheadsent.net custom enclosure design and fabrication. Kerfed and flush mounted like a boss. Before, pretty ugly mainly because of my loose rcas and unmatching batteries that came with the truck, On with the equipment:
  8. I seem to have a lot more voltage drop to rear fuse to amp when the seats are up, rather than down. This is a trunk car. Is lack of air flow making the sub work harder? I have the rear 6x9 vacant..

    SSA ZCON 15" D2

Item for Sale: SSA ZCON 15" Dual 2 ohm coils Description/condition: I am not original owner, but the sub has been reconed recently in my possession. Suspension is still very stiff as I just reconed the sub a couple months ago, and it has only seen about 15 hrs of play time on ~1700 watts. There is a bit of rust on the bottom of the motor, as well as some scratches on the motor, ferrite slugs are in good shape and not chipped. There is a bit of clear goop glue surrounding the dust cap's position as that's what I like to use on the DC because of its flexible properties. See pics for condition; questions are encouraged! This is a high ticket item and I will do my best to answer all of your concerns and display this sub in its current condition in the proper manner. Shipping: Item will be properly packed, shipped, and insured to your door using UPS as my carrier. US 50 states only please! Price/payment: PayPal only! You pay, I ship. Price: 460$ shipped. OBO Trades: Entertain me with trade offers, but I really just need the money to beef up my electrical, recone an sp4, and get my MMATS 3k fixed. Pictures:
  11. The anticipation is killing me. Summer days go by and I'm not bumping. How long am I looking at to receive my single zcon recone? Ordered on 6/7. I was hoping it would arrive in 2-3 weeks. Anyone have any input on how long it took for them to receive a recone?
  12. Alright guys, I finally got my build up and running (its in the build log section if you need to see it) and I am asking myself if I need more power. Currently I am running an AB1100.1, and during testing had it wired up but scored a 150.2. After wiring it down for peak power from the amp it scored a 154.2. Te reason I ask this is because these subs seem to be laughing at that amp.. I mean I know they are underrated at 2250 RMS but they literally only move 3/4 of an inch at most (20-30hz) and get stupid loud in that box. I am looking to add more batteries, maybe another alt, and maybe gonna add another AB1100.1. I am just worried that the 3" coil wont be able to handle it at full power.. Anybody have any ideas on what they think they could take (I only give clean power), or know of anyone who has had these up around that power level?
  13. This is one of the 18's from Lance's Yukon. I picked it up with the intentions of using it and was never able to and I need to get rid of it now haha. It is in great condition with just a few chips in the ferrite part of the motor and a small nick in the spider. It plays fine though. I'll take 410 shipped or 350+ shipping to you, whichever is less. If you're local to 76708 (Waco, TX) I'll take 325 just to save the hassle of shipping. On to the pics Small nick in the spider. Nothing big. I will take trades for a Crescendo BC2000d if we split shipping on the Zcon or a Zcon/Mayhem/BTL N2 12". I will also take a pair of Xcons or Icons + Cash. If you have any other trades just ask me. Let me know!

    Dual 15" ZCON Box Size??

I would like some input on building an enclosure for 2 ZCON 15D2's. The max cubes available for the box is 7(3.5 per sub) after displacements. I want to tune at 31hz. I have seen the recommendations SSA's site for enclosures but would like to have some outside information on how well these will do in 7 cubes . They will be running off a SAZ3500 at .5ohms. Thanks.
  15. As the title says...I have 14.25 cubes available. I want to run 2 zcon 18's. I don't know anything at all whatsoever about designing a box. With that said, after subtracting driver displacement, port displacement, and bracing, will I have enough room? If not I have a Zcon 18" Dual 2 for sale lawl

  17. Hi i'm somewhat new to this forum. I have a 2003 Dodge Dakota Quad cab (crew cab) and am trying to decide with the space I have what setup will give me the best result. I'm really looking for Sound Quality and getting super low with loudness a given as either should get more than loud enough for me. The vehicle will be a DD but will also be a show vehicle/ demo for my installs, maybe a couple competitions if i can find some. The largest dimensions I have to work with are 24" tall, 30" wide and 32" deep. (could maybe go an inch more on height if it would make a big difference in sound. According to RE box calculator I have 8.09 cubic feet after port displacement but without sub displacement. my port would be 3.5" wide and would be an L style port with the back length of 12" . Tuning would be about 28hz but would be a little higher after sub displacement. If I went with the 2 15" Icons I would have the port and one sub facing up and one facing forward. (is this a bad idea?) Or one 18" zcon with port up and sub up? Amp would be a Crescendo BC2000D. Looking to purchase all in a day or so, just want to know if I will notice a huge difference in two 15" icons over 1 18" Zcon as its almost $200 more? had experience with quite a few brands but never SSA. I appreciate your opinion and experience/ comments Thanks, Codester

Which do you feel would be best? I have a Crescendo BC3500D to power it.
  19. I just finished installing my SSA Carbon Fiber Convex Dust Cap and I am really impressed by the way it looks. I have not taking a listen yet, though I'm sure there won't be any audibel difference. Here are a few photos I have taken. Here is a overview of both caps side by side Here you can that the original cap is "taller". Not exactly sure how this will affect anything. In this picture, it is very hard to see, but I place the new cap over on top of the other, to show that the new cap's "flanged" is just a hair bit longer. In this photo, you can see some bubbles in the crease around the cap before the flange begins. In this photo, pretty hard to see, but really really close up, you can see these "scratches"? I'm not exactly sure where this is from lol. But you have to be really close to see. In this photo, you can see all of its sexyness In this photo, you can see one of the problems I ran into. When removing the original cap, whats left is the glue's residue? I'm not sure what to call it, but it leaves two O-type rings around the former. When trying to lay down the New cap, it would not sit flat or flush. So I was forced to chip away with a small flat head screw driver on the outer ring. The inner ring seems a bit more permanent. Here is the epoxy I just picket up from Lowe's. Seems to work really well. It got real stinky real fast. In this photo, you can see the outter ring chiped away. And here is it installed I got a bit messy This was my first time every doing this, but atleast its clear, so it doesn't look too too bad. Cosmetically though, this looks aMAZEing. Also, I will note that the cap I recieved, did not flush with the cone. It seems that the cone, and the flang are formed at two different angles. Not too too much difference, but enough to not look flush. So I had to use a little bit more glue, and push down as much as I could to try and make sure there is no gaps in between the connection of the cap and the cone. The original cone does seem a bit more "solid" for the lack of term. Like, the original cap is a hard plastic, you could knock on the back of the cap, and it would make a decent "thund". But the new cap, like, I could push it in? If that makes sense. I've never personally handled Carbon Fiber, so I don't know what to expect. Maybe bend but never break kind of thing? lol. It is extremely light though! So overall, I am pleased with this product and would definately purchase more in the future. Thank you very much SSA and Duran for allowing to me purchase another amazing top notch quality item
