Hey all, i just bought a shop pack of damplifier pro 80ft, hoping it will be well worth it since it cost me around 540$ for the pack (shipping/us-cad). I just wanted to know if i should deaden the whole car which would require prob another 80ft and im also thinking of ordering a pack of mlv/ccf. I will be running around 1200rms, and the car is a lexus so it is pretty quiet from start. What do u guys think? Im thinkin if i need another 80ft will jus go with regular damplifer instead of the pro to save some $. Also, getting it installed is another huge cost. Theres this shop that i know do an amazing job 100% of the time but they are charging around 1000$. Another shop whi…

Getting terrible rattles coming from a stock spoiler in a 2008 Grand Prix. What's the recommended treatment here? My first thought is taking it off and drilling a small hole to shoot expanding foam in. Unsure how the expanding foam really works and if it has any negatives.

Is there any benifit do deadening an enclosure? I have thought about using a product called "green glue" sandwiched between two layers of mdf. It is intended for use between drywall and it is amazing! I used it in my condo and do not jear the neighbors at all anymore. It converts sound energy to heat and disperses it through the material. http://www.greengluecompany.com

I am going to be tearing up my car for a wall build and I want to sound deaden as well. What material can I use so I have similar effects as MLV (Mass Loaded Vinyl)? Basically I will be looking for a heavy, flexible material, that is on sheets and does not smell awful. I'll be going through our big shops for construction and whatnot, but you guys can suggest other things and places I can look into.

All, I have posted about every aspect of my install except for this one. I have a 2008 Cobalt LS Coupe and have very recently, 1 Hour ago, bought a new set of speakers for the doors. I have never deadened a door before an am looking for information as to where the best locations for each type of deadener would be and if your regular "sound mat" would be good enough. The picture below shows what my door looks like with the interior panel taken off. Any help would be much appreciated!

I have a 08 Impala and when I had my Icon 12 on a 1200D, the bumper rattled like crazy. I had two layers of Raamat on the trunk outer skin. It seems like there is a piece of plastic or something smacking the frame behind the bumper and causing most of the rattle. Just wondering if anyone has fixed this issue. I have an Xcon 15 coming and it will be on 2000w~ and I know it will be a little worse. Any help is appreciated.

I Had another kid in 07 my beautiful daughter and I put everything on the back burner audio wise, but kept most of my equipment for that one day, now my kids are 19 & 6 in school full time so now I have time to play again! In my noob days I thought I was the shit for figuring out that the $15 roll of asphalt based Peel-n-Sea…

Hi, I have a 2002 Nissan Maxima, I see lots of people taking about the Sound Deadening the front doors, which mine have 6.5 speakers, and telling me that will help my install, etc... I would like to see some experienced opinions on this and if possible what type, what amount and which brand do you recommend?(the less expensive the better) Thank you.

Anyone tried this stuff? I probably should have asked before using it, but just curious if anyone else has and hearing opinions on it. I feel like its worked to some extent, but I also still have a fair amount of rattles. I know i need more of it to place on my inner panels, but my main focus has been on the trunk area. http://www.thermotec.com/products/14600-suppressor-acoustical-heat-control-mat.html http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004PILLZG/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The side windows in a bronco's top are only held in by rubber trim, Unfortunately they are not tight enough to withstand the pressures of bass. The windows flex back and forth and on some songs can make enough noise to be annoying. Anyone have any ideas on how to better secure them? I was thinking maybe epoxy of some sort, but I'm not sure if it would work or which one to use.

So I'm a complete newbie when it comes to sound deadening. I know of the materials used and such after reading on SDS and such years ago. I was recommended to just use CLD tiles when I queired don years ago, but as far as the process of applying it and using it properly I'm not very knowledgeable and have no experience. I've been running my SSD 18 for almost 4 years now without any sound deadening. However, I'm looking for the cheapest solution to my problem. My system is in my signature. I just added the two new amps to my build, and my sub is receiving a lot more power. More power = louder = more rattles. It's very unfortunate, and my cars an 89' so it's pretty easy t…

Just a shout out to Don of SoundDeadenerShowdown! Shipped me everything I needed to treat my doors at a great price. Answered all my questions and then some and even saved me a few dollars by keeping me from buying more than I needed. His product exceeded all of my expectations and the fact that I was able to help a small business was icing on the cake. Thanks Don! The only problem now is that the engine and road noise I couldn't hear before is coming through loud and clear Time to start saving up to treat the rest of my vehicle

If my port and sub are firing foward into the car from the trunk and sealed off, is there any benefit sound-wise to putting sound deadening material in the trunk? I am on a budget and have some second skin, I just want to know if I should deaden the trunk or the inside of my car first. The box I have built has to be put together in the trunk because it is bigger than the trunk opening, so once it is in it is really in. I have a 15" XCON being powered by a DC 5.0K at 2 ohms (2300 watts nominal). Should I deaden the trunk or concentrate on the interior of the car, best bang for my buck? Thank you for your help.

I bought a large roll of "Edead" (From Elemental designs when they were still in business) sound deadener about 5 years ago, and it was stored in my garage in a cool dry place and I just came across it and decided to use it for my current system. However when I peeled back the white plastic it's not very tacky at all. I wonder if it was like this when I purchased it 5 years ago or if it got this way from sitting around for 5 years? Is there a shelf life on sound deadener? It still has a little bit of tackiness left, is there any way I can salvage it and use it? Is there something I can apply to it that might reactivate the adheasive? Or what about applying another t…

Ive searched and searched for any info about how to decrease the noise created by my Thule 686XT Atlantis 1600 Roof Box to no avail. Is that because its simply a silly thing to try since it just makes so much noise? I have done no sound damping to my Subaru Impreza, but plan to address noise coming through the floor, hood, doors and roof. my question is this: Is there something I can do to the box to get it to resonate less? Or do i simply focus on the roof and possibly, load bars and rails? Thank you very much for any help you may offer. Noah

So I just popped off the door panel for the front right door of my fusion and I realized that there is a metal piece that covers the actual inside door part. Should I take off the metal piece and do the inside door or should I just put it around where you can see in the pic. I'm using the SDS CLD tiles now and possibly later doing the other 2. Just want to do what's best. Thanks!

Hey Guys, So I have a 93 Honda Civic Sedan and Im looking to achieve some modern age luxury car silence out of this thing. Now, you might think that isnt too hard but I have swapped out the standard 1.6 engine for a new JDM Type R 2.0 liter engine with a fat exhaust. I've got solid engine mounts that send vibrations throughout the car to make matters much worse. Now, Ive gone with good ol' Second Skin for my brand of choice and getting it locally via the Second Skin representation since I am from South Africa. Now, Ive plastered Damplifier Pro throughout the interior of the vehicle (1 layer, with a 2nd layer in the boot area and outter layer of the doors) (but have nothin…

I am very interested in this topic and after a google search I kept being redirected here, so i signed up. i read don's forst pinned post ashphalt vs sound deadener. i must say my opinion was the same as the examples "well it worked good till it fell off on the second hot day" and i was "that guy" saying stuff like "hey you can get that stuff from home depot" well i am willing to conceed and try a different aproach for this new project. my vehicle is a commercial truck, a 5 ton like a moving truck you probably see making deliveries in your city. i have no hood, it is a tilt cab so i sit directly overtop the engine and cooling fan. after a HP upgrade and a 2nd turbo charge…
