ok, i got my box built (5 cubes net @33hz), and now my subs aren't loud at all.it sounds like they're bottoming out on every song i play (i listen to mostly rap) the sq is horrible cause they bottom out non-stop, i think its the settings on my amp here they are: subsonic=20 bass eq= 1/2 up low pass=1/2 (out of 35-250 phase=90 deg. (what is this, and what is it for?) level (gain)= 1/4 way up..... is it my settings or what???i can't think of anything else unless its my box but i rechecked the math on it and it came out right....my port is 10x8, the calculator on carstereo.com i used said 21" long (20.97 btw), so i used end correction and took off 5", is this right?my port i…

Hey guys, I have a Rockford Fosgate R500X1D and a Kicker 300 4 Channel amplifiers that i am wanting to get tuned correctly because my first time around i blew 2 of 4 door speakers and subwoofer the first 3 days of use and now with my second try i have them tuned not to max but to a point where i know they are not clipping. My question is where can i get a good quality oscilloscope or some distortion detector for $100 or less so i can have these running at their max. I would like to buy the smddd1 but im already 900 deep in this system and cant put any more into it so im trying to find cheaper options. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Not sure how true it is, or how reliable the source is, but I heard that Power Bass and Memphis are made by the same company. Anyone know if there is any truth to this? Looking at them there are a lot of similarities...but somtimes that doesn't really mean anything.

I have a friend in the Navy who is single and has money to burn. He needs some boom in his Explorer (he's my co-admin over at fordexplorer.net). I suggested to him RE XXX 15's, whatever amp denim told me to buy, probably RE components too in the according sizes. I'd like to see what some of you guys who live and breathe this stuff have to say because denim isn't on aim ever any more

Hey all.Im going to be getting my taxes back in a month and im going to get myself a new car.I want either a 1990-2000 model chevy blazer or a mitsubishi 3000gt.Ive wanted a 3000gt since i was about 13 (Im 20 now) and this may be the only chance I have to get one.I know I can get loud in a blazer but could I get as loud in a 3000gt?Like if I put a FI BTL 18 n2 in the blazer with a aq2200 for an amp and has the same thing in the 3000gt,which would be louder? Thanks. I wanted to know what is the way to measure port length when it comes to an L. I googled and found someone posted on another forum a hunch of different methods. So I wasn't sure which is the most common way to measure it. When I do and L port I usually keep the width consistent through out but I'm not sure if I'm measuring it correct. for instance on a regular L port say 18" long in a 12x12x12 box. With the port width being 2", I'd go towards the rear 10", then make a bend, and put a wood going 4" . So I'd count the first length as 12" then the bend has a 4" wood and I'd add the 2" gap from the second wood to the side of the box to get my 16" . Is that kinda in …

Hi everyone please any help How do you wire 2 dual voice coil subs that are 2 ohms and i have a 2 channel amp ( http://www.amazon.com/Lanzar-VIBE2102N-2-Channel-MOSFET-Amplifier/dp/B00BN7XQG4 ) i want to know how to wire them up to the amp at the 2 x 2400 Watts @ 2 Ohms RMS i have come across this page http://a248.e.akamai.net/pix.crutchfield.com/ca/learningcenter/car/subwoofer_wiring/2DVC_2-ohm_2ch.jpg%C2'> but does that mean that each sub is wired for 4 ohms. First let me start by saying...im only 16 and this will be going in my first car! I was super confused on what sub setup to go with...so i will be going with a single 12 ported tuned to 30hz...which is pretty low in my opinion. The two subs i have in mind are the SSA Icon and the FI Q. The Q box would be 2.5 cu ft. net, the ICON box would be 2.25 cu ft. net. I feel as though these subs will give me excelent SQ with an ability to jus flat out wang from time to time. My car is a 1977 Buick Regal. As of right now the front doors have severe leakage problems...especially the front passenger door. Because of this problem...i was thinking about running a rear fill. Probably a …

OK so I am new to the SSA forum. I have made my noob intro on the noob intro page already and now I am making my 1st official post. So, I have a new 2010 VW CC R-Line. It has the Premium 8 non-Dynaudio system. The system is mediocre at best. I really like the head unit however. I like the functions and the way it looks. So I want to keep that! The speakers have to go. There are two comp sets. I believe the front set is something like a 7" woofer and a 1" tweet. Rear is 6.5" woofer and 1" tweet. So basically any 6.5" comps will work. Mounting depth is good so anything 3" or less will work. I am getting this 5 channel Kenwood amp . Why? Because I like it's small footprint (…

So JL is garbage but NVX is nice? This one sentence has told me all I need to know. No offense but NVX is cheap Taiwan stuff that's not gonna sound very good and sure isn't gonna hold up well guranteed. I do like the other brands SSA caries I own crescendo and sundown myself so I know there damn fine products. And I have no problem with cheap affordable products for beginners or someone on a budget but I can see now how biased M5 is if he thinks JL is junk and a cheap Taiwan brand is nice.

Now, I realized that an electrical outlet is a wicked idea as a speaker connect. It's made with heavy gauge copper, it accepts heavy guage wire, to be screwed down and it makes for a very easy connect, disconnect. I know that almost nobody would understand the concept of this, which is normal. I would like to hear reasons, people would not use this method of connecting speaker wire. I'm looking for facts, to show why an electrical outlet, is not as good as a regular speaker plate.
