  1. Ok this is one of my first posts and I'm pretty audio ignorant so bear with me. I have a 2008 silverado duramax crew cab and a sundown 1200 mono amp. I know the box has to go under the seat unless I do crazy customization so there isn't much room. The box that has been recommended to me by a few people is this one http://subthump.com/Chevrolet-GMC-Sub-Boxes/Silverado-Sierra-Crew-Cab/07-Up-New-Body-Style-GM-Crew-Cab-Dual-Downfire-Box.html It holds 2 10s and has a mounting depth of 6.5 with .83 ft per chamber and it's sealed. Downfiring. I know a g con and a sa10 would fit but the sa 10 requires .5ft while the gcon ranges from .85-1.25. I need to know what two subs would …

Hello, so I have a dodge charger Srt with the Boston setup. I took the kicker sub outta the trunk and put in my Fi BL. When I get home from this deployment I'm looking at changing all of my inside speakers. I'm look for sound quality. The bass is there, but I want the inside to be very clean! Help me choose my setup. I'll go with 6.5s in the front door and 6x9s in the back dash. What brand and models and amp do you recommend. I'd like to get it done under $1k but that's flexible. Do you think I should add more tweeters, there is only one set in the factory setup. I'm keeping my factory NAV. And I'm looking at a JL clean sweep or Rockford Fosgate 360.. All options are welc…

In another post you mentioned something about bouncing sound off the windshield is bad. But when I spoke to "a famous sq guy" <--- his name to himself... He said bouncing your tweeters off the front windshield did a bunch of great things. Can u tell me your reasons for it being bad please? Or anyone, I just called him specificly because he mentioned It. (I didn't really listen to his BS when he told me hair tricks are dumb and anything over 1000 watts is a waste, and that subwoofers should only be used 2% of the time during your listening) <---- no subs?! Go listen to an elevator play your favorite songs guy >:-(

So a friend of mine (much older) said he used to compete 15 years ago and did a 151.3 on 4 15" mtx 500 watt subs on a Phoenix gold 1000.1 competition amp in the trunk of a thunderbird. But when describing his system (had all the normal great things to do for car audio) but one thing I found curious was he routed part of his AC to go on the bass amp. And he said that helped keep his amp crazy cold, and he could make that amp produce much more then 1000 watts "because of the amp temp and the good voltage" he estimated close to 2,000 watts. Anyone have any thoughts on the AC thing? I thought it was a cool idea I know everyone uses fans and such, and I don't know what kinda w…

ok this started a month ago, my right hand sub blew, i chocked it up to a year of abuse and so forth, so i reconed it, dropped it in, and blew it in seconds,.... i thought maybe i miss shimmed it. well i barrowed a pair of BTLS from a good friend, and same mother fucking thing, every time on the right hand side sub. i checked all my speaker wires, and termials i check how i had it seriesed, i did find what seemed to be an issue of 1 RCA seemed to cut off when i jiggled it, but even if its shorting out, its feeding a mono block amp.... so it would short BOTH subs.. not just the right hand. im really at my end and im not sure what else it could be.... i cant con…

  14. Hey guys, my friend asked me if i can install his first aftermarket car audio system. It consists of a 12" jl audio w3v2 single 4ohms in a ported box about 1.75cubicft tuned 35hz. Powering it is a quantum audio 2000w monoblock @ 4ohms. Car is a 2010 chevy cruze. He doesnt want to upgrade his headunit, so the only option is a line out converter. Im not too familiar with these and wanted to know if anyone here has had experience and can refer me to a good one? There are so many out there and i really dont want to mess this up for my buddy.i see the ones on sonicelectronix.com. im thinkin about picking one of those but before i do, there might be one thats on another site? 16. I built the box that my SSA 12" Icon is in right now originally for my 12" RD Alpha V2, which the box is 2.3 cubes tuned to 33hz. Just the basic "L" shaped port. I found an ad on KSL for a box build that said he could build me a custom ported box for $250, when I know if I can get help from you guys that I could build it for less than half that, plus he said that "You should probably go with two 10" subs since the 12" subs have a harder time keeping up" which made me really want to do my own box and not this joker. I listen to mostly techno, rap, hip hop, and heavy metal. Should I basically build the same box again or should I build a different box? I want a box that will…

I have an F350 that has captains chairs with center consoles front and rear. The stock head unit is quit acceptable feature wise, and even the door speakers are not awful, the lower frequencies are quite lacking however. I thought a nice clean way to solve the lack of bass might be to put a JL Audio Stealthbox in the center console (preferably the rear one) I don't even know where I can get one (I'm in Kamloops BC Canada). Another option is a "custom made" box with another sub in the center console, or a "truck box" behind the seats ( ick :-/ ). Any opinions? Know how I can get the Stealthbox at a reasonably price? I do have a 10" Cadence Beast subwoofer here not in use. …

  18. Ok so I've been trying to troubleshoot alternator whine through my 4 channel since I've installed it. Let me first list my equipment. Car: 2004 Grand Prix GT no monsoon system, no onstar Headunit: JVC KD-720 (old, bought it back in 2007 or something) U-35 cable converting cd changer to AUX EXT IN is in use. Wired this to cars harness myself as I did not need the expensive PAC harness, as I didnt care if I maintained onboard date/time display or door chimes. 4 channel amp: SSL F400, poopy I know, but this is my first time hooking up a 4 channel so babysteps 6x9s: Infinity Reference 691.3 3-way, Using a pair of stinger bass blockers on them to just get use of frequencies 15…

Hey guys, My girlfriend has a 2007 Nissan Altima and would like to start "renovating" her stock system as it is complete junk...I know a decent amount about audio and have spent several years to get where I am at: Pioneer 4300DVD Boston Acoustics S85 Kicker Speaker amp (can't remember exact model) Audioque 2200D SSA XCON 15 - Ported Box Nothing to crazy, but it sounds good... Now she doesn't have unlimited funds and I suggested she do it in small steps...so far now I think we will stick with doing speakers and a speaker amp...with a budget of $200 maybe $300...super tough budget I know...but she doesn't need the best stuff...just something that is decent. I believe the sp…

  22. I have a 12inch dcon. It says that 2.25cu.ft. is "optimal" and the smallest you should build it is 1.75cu.ft. Lets say they are both tuned the same. What is the difference in sound, etc? What is lost or gained by making the box that much bigger? Also, I listen to mostly rock with a decent amount of rap music thrown in there. I'm looking for a nice middle ground tuning and a box that can be easily moved if needed. I was considering 2.0cu.ft. tuned to 32hz. Would you suggest something different? Thanks. (also, I know less power usually calls for a bigger box, I'll be running 340rms or slightly over to the sub) Thanks!

Hello all. So I just sold a sub for the first time and I need to ship it safely. Its a 10" Icon and I still have the original box that it came in, I also still have the 4 pieces of foam that were used to keep the sub from moving during shipping. My question is, how do I reattach those pieces of foam safely and securely? I am worried that just gluing them back in place is just not a good solution, I feel that they would come loose too easily. My other thought is to cut out pieces of cardboard/foam the size of the box and stack them until it secures the sub in place. I am worried if I use cardboard there is potential to damage the surround. So any ideas, suggestions o…
