My friend currently just got his first system. Its a 12" CVR with a 2.7 cuft. sealed box. The power is coming from a TXi 1008D (1000 watt) Hifonics amp. Now heres the issue. This system does NOT pound at all. It feels really "weak" if you say. Someone told me that the box is too big. Im not really sure. Heres a hint, when playing hoods run down, it doesn't get the last 3 tones. Its as if the sub is not even trying, there is no excursion at all. Any one have any ideas? Thanks. Heres a pic of the box for the hell of it.

Hey guys, I have a Rockford Fosgate R500X1D and a Kicker 300 4 Channel amplifiers that i am wanting to get tuned correctly because my first time around i blew 2 of 4 door speakers and subwoofer the first 3 days of use and now with my second try i have them tuned not to max but to a point where i know they are not clipping. My question is where can i get a good quality oscilloscope or some distortion detector for $100 or less so i can have these running at their max. I would like to buy the smddd1 but im already 900 deep in this system and cant put any more into it so im trying to find cheaper options. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I'm slightly unsure as to what section to put this topic in so mods please move this if you see fit. I'm a first semester electrical student and I'm pretty familiar with the ohms law wheel and its formulas. But, for some reason I fall short when trying to calculate the total impedances of a certain car audio circuits. My question is what formulas do you guys use to figure out all of the different ohm loads that can be used w/ corresponding VC configurations. Ex. 2 Dual 2 Subs What are all of the ohm loads that can be reached. I understand that anyone can go 2 the rockford fosgate wiring wizard and find a solution. But I'm more interested in how these values are derived.

Well I'm listening to my music loud last night and noticed my lights seems to be dimming quite heavily, more than I recall. Then after playing music for about 10 minutes my sub cuts out then comes back on and cuts out. So I turn the sub off. I figured maybe a tinsel lead failed because I didn't smell any burned voice coil scent. Then I start to think. Man that sub was expensive how could it break like that on me? I'm only feeding it 900 watts rms. I thought you could power this sub into the 1kw range. Then I start thinking about how much shipping will cost to send it back to stereo integrity. Today after school I decide to check the sub. I hook it up to a shelf…

Hey all.Im going to be getting my taxes back in a month and im going to get myself a new car.I want either a 1990-2000 model chevy blazer or a mitsubishi 3000gt.Ive wanted a 3000gt since i was about 13 (Im 20 now) and this may be the only chance I have to get one.I know I can get loud in a blazer but could I get as loud in a 3000gt?Like if I put a FI BTL 18 n2 in the blazer with a aq2200 for an amp and has the same thing in the 3000gt,which would be louder? Thanks. I wanted to know what is the way to measure port length when it comes to an L. I googled and found someone posted on another forum a hunch of different methods. So I wasn't sure which is the most common way to measure it. When I do and L port I usually keep the width consistent through out but I'm not sure if I'm measuring it correct. for instance on a regular L port say 18" long in a 12x12x12 box. With the port width being 2", I'd go towards the rear 10", then make a bend, and put a wood going 4" . So I'd count the first length as 12" then the bend has a 4" wood and I'd add the 2" gap from the second wood to the side of the box to get my 16" . Is that kinda in …

ok im in a dilemma, i am trying to figure out which box to use for a d915d2 being powered by a US AMPS ax1000de at 1 ohm. I have run some figures and made some graphs using WIN isd and have them for you to look at. i am going for the best SQ but spl is an issue to. i do like to thump. if anyone can help me analyse this information and decide which enclosure you believe to be best for me (vented, or sealed). the went will be a square 3x16x39, and will be following these specifications http://www.diamondaudio.com/products/pdfs/...Vented%2005.pdf it is already facotred in on the graphs and the other specs are here http://www.diamondaudio.com/products/pdfs/...ch%20Sheet2.pdf…

Hi everyone please any help How do you wire 2 dual voice coil subs that are 2 ohms and i have a 2 channel amp ( http://www.amazon.com/Lanzar-VIBE2102N-2-Channel-MOSFET-Amplifier/dp/B00BN7XQG4 ) i want to know how to wire them up to the amp at the 2 x 2400 Watts @ 2 Ohms RMS i have come across this page http://a248.e.akamai.net/pix.crutchfield.com/ca/learningcenter/car/subwoofer_wiring/2DVC_2-ohm_2ch.jpg%C2'> but does that mean that each sub is wired for 4 ohms. Any help maybe i am missing something or its something so simple but this is my first build and the subs are 2 12" Fi BT series and this is the only amp i have for now. This first part is how having the correct crossover makes a world of difference in how a subwoofer setup sounds. When I first set up my amp for my new sub I put the crossover on 80 hz because I had heard that was the general concensus for a decent starting position. I left it there for a few years and I figured everything was good. Then I think one day last year I got bored and just played around with my front stage, seeing if I would want a 3 way setup or something. Sometime during that I turned my crossover up to 100 hz on my sub and forgot about it. A year passed and I hadn't really noticed it until lately I played some Crystal Method and I was like man, my sub su…

OK so I am new to the SSA forum. I have made my noob intro on the noob intro page already and now I am making my 1st official post. So, I have a new 2010 VW CC R-Line. It has the Premium 8 non-Dynaudio system. The system is mediocre at best. I really like the head unit however. I like the functions and the way it looks. So I want to keep that! The speakers have to go. There are two comp sets. I believe the front set is something like a 7" woofer and a 1" tweet. Rear is 6.5" woofer and 1" tweet. So basically any 6.5" comps will work. Mounting depth is good so anything 3" or less will work. I am getting this 5 channel Kenwood amp . Why? Because I like it's small footprint (…

So JL is garbage but NVX is nice? This one sentence has told me all I need to know. No offense but NVX is cheap Taiwan stuff that's not gonna sound very good and sure isn't gonna hold up well guranteed. I do like the other brands SSA caries I own crescendo and sundown myself so I know there damn fine products. And I have no problem with cheap affordable products for beginners or someone on a budget but I can see now how biased M5 is if he thinks JL is junk and a cheap Taiwan brand is nice.

I just bought a 2011 Mazda 3 sedan and already bought a Pioneer avh-3200bt along with everything that it needs to get hooked up (I hope), haha guess i'll find out when I hook it up. Now I am looking for speakers. My last system had two 6.5" Polk Audio DB651s, and two Infiniti reference 9623i 6x9's which were just powered by the HU and they sounded good to me, but now I want to get speakers that will get very loud and stay crisp. I already have a 12" RD Alpha V.2 sub which will be powered @ 1500rms so bass isn't a concern with the speakers. I know there is lots of different reviews on speakers so I am hoping that I can get some opinions from people off of here that can hel…
