Was thinking of wiring up the big 3 in my 04 grand prix. Don't have a high output alt, should the hookup only be done if the alt is aftermarket quality? What other determinations should sway me to do or not do this wiring?

So like it says. Where do you guys have your bass knobs? What sneaky spot in your car did you hide them? Do you have them in the open? Pictures would be awesome. Trying to get some ideas.

Now, I realized that an electrical outlet is a wicked idea as a speaker connect. It's made with heavy gauge copper, it accepts heavy guage wire, to be screwed down and it makes for a very easy connect, disconnect. I know that almost nobody would understand the concept of this, which is normal. I would like to hear reasons, people would not use this method of connecting speaker wire. I'm looking for facts, to show why an electrical outlet, is not as good as a regular speaker plate.

I am building a ported enclosure and am wondering how everyone paint their ports all the way to the back. I have thought about painting the port before i put the box together but i just wanted to make sure there wasn't a better way to do it. My port is pretty small, 2.5" to be exact, so I cannot reach my spray gun inside it.

I’m curious if anyone can fill me in on what’s going on with AL? I know SSA and DroppinHZ used to sell them but now I can’t find any online dealers. I’ve been told they are ghosting their dealers right now and it appears they are liquidating some products on their site. When they first came out everyone said they had great CS and then I started hearing of warranty horror stories. Wonder if shady practices did them in?

ok im in a dilemma, i am trying to figure out which box to use for a d915d2 being powered by a US AMPS ax1000de at 1 ohm. I have run some figures and made some graphs using WIN isd and have them for you to look at. i am going for the best SQ but spl is an issue to. i do like to thump. if anyone can help me analyse this information and decide which enclosure you believe to be best for me (vented, or sealed). the went will be a square 3x16x39, and will be following these specifications http://www.diamondaudio.com/products/pdfs/...Vented%2005.pdf it is already facotred in on the graphs and the other specs are here http://www.diamondaudio.com/products/pdfs/...ch%20Sheet2.pdf…

OHM'S law There are 2 base formulae which will help you to understand the relationship between current , voltage , resistance and power . If you have any two of the parameters, you can calculate the other two parameters. OHM'S LAW BASE FORMULAS P=I*E E=I*R TO FIND VOLTAGE E=P/I E=I*R E=SQR(P*R) TO FIND CURRENT I=P/E I=E/R I=SQR(P/R) TO FIND POWER P=I*E P=E2/R P=I2*R TO FIND RESISTANCE R=E2/P R=E/I R=P/I2 P = Power in Watts E = Electromotive Force in Volts I = Electrical Current in Amps R = Electrical Resistance in Ohms SQR = Square Root Note: I use 'E' to represent voltage most of the time but sometimes you'll see 'V' used for voltage. Don't let it confuse y…

Scored these monsters for $200. They need some work because they were banged up in a move, but after some new cloth skirts, wood work, and paint these bad boys will be rockin. I'm sure they'll also need a wire rebuild kit from Magnepan, but from what I have read that is only about $50. It's going to take a while to get used to a pair of 60" tall speakers in the living room. The "IMP" on the rear plates designate these as an "Improved" version of the MG-1's. I hear if you use subwoofers in a dipole setup with magneplanars it is next to Godliness, so I'm doing the research on different dipole setups right now and trying to decide which one to use. I'm thinking black wood f…

I have a 99 toyota camry with 2 fi q 12s on a saz 3500v2 I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with camry. I have my subs & port firing to the rear & it is not bad but I was wondering if anyone has had the subs firing forward & port to the side & how it did vs. sub & port to rear. I am having a slot port built right now just wondering if anyone had gain or improvement doing this in a gen 4 camry. I am just looking for a suggestions I know ultimately I am going to have to just experiment because of all the uncontrollable variables. Here is my question do you think I should go for it & try subs forward port to passenger side or stick with…

So I dont have a whole lot of pics but here are some. I know other people have alot more. It was an ok turn out. Maybe 50 people, not too huge. Dan was on the grill making us adire heads food. Maybe 15 cars went on the TL mic. I hit a 133.5 at 37hz with 220 watts on a brahma 15 with the mic by the headrest and one window down in a temp set up until I get my sub amp. There were some sick installs there but I know other people will have pictures to post of them so I'm not even going to bother getting into them now. I dont know anyone else on this forum who was there, but more talk about the event can be seen at http://forum.soundillusions.net/showthread.php?t=38754 along wi…

I finally have most of my equipment in and now that I'm actually pushing some power this is a question that I can't seem to find a straight answer by searching the net. Is it safe to turn the volume up past the gain limits you've set when listening to music that's recorded at lower volumes? I find that when listening to a lot of music, especially older music, the volume seems to be half of what is recorded these days. Is this part of the "head room" that I've heard everyone speak of? This may be a stupid question to some but after my experience with that POS Hifonics amp I want to make sure that I'm not just building heat rather than pushing power. I will say that this AQ…

I have ideas about what I am going with but I want to see what others would do in my situation. I want to get as loud as possible in a setup with one battery under the hood. Here is the catch. The battery has already been decided. It is a XS Power D3400. Stock alt. Lets just look at the subwoofer setup. I am keeping my stock mids and highs for now. Also I would like to keep as much cargo space as I can in my small SUV. I will even throw this out there. For the sub box I have about 5 cubes of space I can work with. So basically I am looking for a sub/amp combination that would work with my electrical.

Hi, I have a 1999 blazer with a single 12 Fi Q powered by a cadence zrs-7000d which is running at about 1300 rms at 1 ohm. The Fi Q is in a 2.2cuft L-Ported box tuned to about 32 hz. I really like this sub woofer but i am looking for more output. I have some questions now. First, i am looking to add another Fi Q 12 and making the box to about 5^3, i would be buying another zrs-7000d and bridging them together to get 2600rms at 2 ohms. Would there be any better subs that would give me noticeably more output out of a 5^3 box with about 2600rms? Second, would a new 250 amp alt and a optima yellow top under the hood be enough to support the electrical for the 2600watts? Third…

OK so I am new to the SSA forum. I have made my noob intro on the noob intro page already and now I am making my 1st official post. So, I have a new 2010 VW CC R-Line. It has the Premium 8 non-Dynaudio system. The system is mediocre at best. I really like the head unit however. I like the functions and the way it looks. So I want to keep that! The speakers have to go. There are two comp sets. I believe the front set is something like a 7" woofer and a 1" tweet. Rear is 6.5" woofer and 1" tweet. So basically any 6.5" comps will work. Mounting depth is good so anything 3" or less will work. I am getting this 5 channel Kenwood amp . Why? Because I like it's small footprint (…
