  3. Hey guys i know i may sound like a straight noob i apologize before hand but this is really driving me crazy!! I have gone step by step one for one and have isolated that the radio is the cause of the issue or the alternator, i have tried running new rca's from the head unit, ive tried pulling the eq out of the equation but still the same noise. I have tried different radios: older alpine 9887 or something like that, a walmart pioneer deck, and just today an alpine cde-123 and still the same thing!! I have two ground points from the alt to the strut tower and 2/0 from the batteries to the factory rear ground post. Tomorrow when i get home from work im going to run 2 groun…

  4. Big thanks to Shizzon for shipping out my meter promptly and what a great price for a rare and extremely helpful tool. Specs, 02 Camry (sunroof) Mechman 220a, 2 dekas in the rear, XS D2400 under the hood AQ... Wait, Soundcubed 3500.1 @ .7 2 BTL N2 18s, pink dustcaps which help a little on the meter. ~13 cubes at 36-37hz Not exactly completely sealed off, I used high density foam to keep the resell value of my car. Box has awful flex which I'll be fixing in a week with some steel bracing. Plenty of testing to come so I'll keep updating this thread. So far I just ran a sweep legal style and just used the same frequency outlaw. Outlaw Sealed Another outlaw score Outl…

Car Audio System Planning What is system planning? It's the process that keeps you from making costly mistakes and ending up with equipment you don't want or can't use. This is what keeps new people from staying in the audio hobby wasting money that they do not have. Here's system planning for most new car audio shoppers. "My friend just got two fifteens for his car and it booms! I just got the same ones he bought but I bought the new million watt amplifier I saw in the magazines. I also bought a new high end head unit but I want to keep my factory speakers because I don't want to spend too much money." Everything sounds OK until you realize that he drives a Mazda Miata …

  12. Hey guys, this is going to be my first real long post on the boards, I apologize but im trying to get as much information out there to help you help me! (Skip to "cliff" notes/questions at bottom if reading my "book" is just too much) I have been reading up on this topic for the past week and Ive got a pretty good idea on where im going with my setup but its good to hear people's experiences and advice on wether this will really achieve what im looking for. Let me start off by saying that Im not an audiophile (at least I don't think I am , and by that I mean that I probably would not be able to detect minor differences in SQ from one SQ sub to another) but I am looking …

  17. A gremlin that ive experienced once before, and that disappeared on its own before, is back and making me a bit furious. Lows are diminished, kind of loose and hollow sounding. The higher notes are overly strong and seemingly impervious to lpf settings, have a sort of trembling effect to them too. Lower notes often come thru with an initial high note hit thats very pronounced and then goes into the actual note that should be playing but weak and with that "trembling" type effect mentioned earlier. Just sounds out of phase and shitty overall. Ive tweaked all hu and amp settings with no change. This most recent appearance of the gremlin occured after installing an EA alt,…

  24. How do you estimate an items worth when you don't have anything to compare it to? I don't know what it cost new back then; I don't really know what it would have been worth when i got it (kinda a gift/trade type deal). I can't find any "red apples to red apples" comparisons (ebay, etc...); so I don't know what I could sell it for. Any ideas? It's a old Q-Logic box... ...with two oldschool 10-inch RF Punch's (not sure of the version or impedence). I used that setup in a certain vehicle because I don't drive it that much (in winter, I hardly drive it); and, I needed room to but more stuff in it (tool bag, cleaning accessories kit, "junk drawer" bag, spar parts, and other …
