  3. So I'm still new to car audio and dont know all the terms or how everything works. There are two things I'm still not sure about. 1) When you set amp gains, are you actually changing the amount of power coming from the amp? As in, if I have a 1000rms amp, by setting the gains lower can I actually just put out 500rms to the sub? I've heard mixed responses, but that you are always putting out what ever the amp is rated at. Because if this is the case, can't you run like a 2000 watt amp on stock electrical, but then just dial it back to like 800 rms or so? 2) What does "full tilt mean"? Is that just volume all the way up (before clipping I'm guessing) Thanks!

  4. For starters I've spent dozens of hours but it's just beyond my feeble abilities. Current set-up: Jeep Wrangler (possibly the worst platform for good sounding mobile audio), Rosen HU (it has front, rear, and sub RCA outputs), Zed Mikro IV pushing JBL power series 6 1/2" components in factory locations up front and bridged rear to power a Kenwood 10 in a sealed box. The HU powers Bravox 5 1/4" components in the role bar. Those JBLs scream and I need them to, I frequently drive with the doors off and top down. Yes, I know they're harsh, but they fit my budget and the performance matches the compromises I'm willing to make. The problem is the output of the 10" …

Ok, here's the story. I shop (window shop mostly) online 99% of the time on sites like Sonic, Audiosavings, and Ebay, so I found it refreshing to go visit a couple of real audio stores in my area so that I could actually see amps in person, listen to speakers, and tie some hyperflex in a knot. While I did have fun in the listening room and lookin over products the guys that worked at both places SUCKED. (Jack's Stereo and Schroeder's Audio in Waco, TX) First of all, I went to Schroeder's to look at some HAT Imagines as they were on the dealer list. The guy said he only had Clarus's in stock and that I could see them so I went ahead and did. So as we leave the listening r…

With the increasing demand for the amazing pioneer deh-80prs and the availability dropping and price on the rise I figured I better get one while I can. Should be a nice compliment to my system. Feel like its only a matter of time before this head unit becomes nearly impossible to get your hands on.

So i go to walmart to do some shopping right...come out 30 minutes later and see my window busted out and nearly hit the ground!! Pop the trunk and NATHIN was in there.... Boy does it suck to work so hard for stuff just to get it taken by someone that has nothing. So new plan in the making for my next sub stage.... So im think since i had an aq2200 and i never had it wired past 2ohms this time im going to do a aq1200 and to match it with 4 10" dcons!! Im thinking since my car did good on 1200rms from my aq2200 then why not get the aq1200 and then 2 more 10's which in reality should be louder and maybe sound better then my 2 sa10's .....cant wait!!! But now its time for a …

I just picked up a 86 oldsmobile cutlass. (should be delivered to my house on sunday may 18) I would like to use the amps I have laying around to save money- they are Phoenix gold Tantrum 250.2 and a Phoenix gold Tantrum 400.4 I listen to everything from rock to rap ,classical, country you name it I listen to it. I was thinking of a 2 way active front stage plus infinite baffle sub stage. I think going with a hu that is 2 way compatible would be my best bet ( suggestions ) under $200?? Ideas for the front speakers under $150 (from what I can see kickpanel limited - 8" max 4.5" depth midbass/midrange -tweeter?) run off 400.4 tantrum 50 x 4 @ 4 ohm 100 x 4 @ 2ohm substag…

I need some help with ideas. Please note i have very minimal knowledge with subs, amps, etc. My brother is getting a 2007 Tahoe and he mentioned that he wanted a system so i figured it would be a great gift. I was wanting to get 1 BTL 18" & Rockford Fs. amp. If anyone could please help with what specific amps, etc. i need, it would be GREATLY appreciated. A cost estimate would be great too. I had been looking at the T10001bd and T1500-1bd Power Amps but i figured you guys would know a little more than i do. Also, im expecting him to run it daily 1k+. If any additional info is need please let me know. Thanks again! Edit: Looking now, would the BL 18's possible be a bette…

Well its my senior year of highschool and i've been trying to figure out what to do with my life. I don't really have ideas but i was thinking about something to do with car audio. I enjoy tinkering with my system alot and think it would make a fun career. My question for ya'll would be does any body here besides the SSA owners do this as a career? Do you have any advice for me or guidance. I wanna eventually have a store that sells quality products very similar to the SSA store. Is there a school for this? Would there be a field i would need a degree in? Thanks for the help. EDIT: If any body is in the field if you don't mind me asking, what kind of salary should …

I'm new to this forum and it's probably obvious, as I may be posting this in the wrong section. Anyways, I'm looking to get some component speakers for my 99 Honda Civic LX. I'm sorta on a budget so I'm just replacing the stock front door speakers for now. I was thinking about getting a pair of Infinity Reference 6020cs as they have great reviews on Crutchfield. However, someone in another forum told me that I could get better for the same amount of money, and to perhaps direct my inquiry here. Does anyone have any advice? I plan to use this with a Clarion DXZ585USB CD receiver without any type of amp for the time being... Any advice would be great. I'm super poor and jus…

Hey guys, I just finished installing a new system in my 08 Infiniti G37 Coupe, and it sounds great. I will upload some pics later, but I installed a cleansweep, a Sundown 100.2, a Sundown 1500d, phoenix gold rsd components in the front, and an RE SE 10. The RE 10 sounds good, but I know that the 1500 can do alot more than it is currently doing, and I would like to get a new 10 inch that would take 1000-1500 @ one ohm. I listen to mostly rock music, but I really listen to everything. I am not looking for huge numbers, but I do like alot of bass. I know it is a tall order to get a 10 incher to pressurize well, especially in a trunk. As far as box size, I can probably …

  19. So I bought a Tantric HD 12 d2 a week ago and received it yesterday. Today I went to put it in my 2.5 cu enclosure and I am having a problem with the sound/voltage. It doesnt drop ( to maybe low 14s) and something is definitely wrong. I had a problem similar to this last week when I realized my coils on the mayhem were toast. Voltage drop with zv4 was to around 12 volts. The way it is playing seems as if it wired very high. What I did: -Checked coils on sub (read 2.4ohm each) -impedance at the output terminals is 1 ohm (car off) -o-scoped the rca's and output voltage (clean) - free aired the sub and notice no coil rub at all (seems as if not getting full power) and it s…

Tried ordering an enclosure off the Fisher Custom site, then bad news comes. Something a long the lines of not being able to ship to my location and then I go to Audible Customs and they also can not ship to Louisiana at the moment. This is a big halt, as things were going so smooth.... while acquiring all the new equipment. I really don't have trust nor faith in the local shops around here, probably just as well off purchasing a prefrab from them but, I want to do things right. So if anyone knows of some legit people who could build me a bow and ship to Louisiana... that would be appreciative.
